@danpompei I am fortunate to have trained under Mark Bowen - he’s one of the best surgeons I’ve operated with. He’s the true definition of a gentleman and a scholar.

It's the end of an era today as the great Mark Bowen steps down as team physician of the Bears after treating everyone from Steve McMichael to Caleb Williams in a 33 year run. If everyone on the team performed like Bowen, the Bears would have several more Lombardis in their trophy case. Bowen will be joining Hospital for Special Surgery as a medical advisor and hopefully spending more time tending to his grapes and olives.

Alabama is a wild state to practice orthopedic sports medicine in. Saw a young, female soccer athlete with an ACL tear. Outside surgeon recommended ACL reconstruction with allograft / partial meniscectomy and RTS 4-5 mo. I recommended ACL recon with autograft, meniscal repair, and LET and RTS 9-12 mo.
