Due to potential winter weather conditions, both the Blairsville and Pickens VA clinics will be operating with a two-hour delayed opening (9:30 am) on March 17, 2026. Veteran patients are being contacted by Atlanta VA schedulers to offer alternative options, including virtual appointments, in-person appointments at alternative locations, or rescheduling as needed. Our team is proactively reaching out via phone calls and text messages to minimize any impact on patient care. For appointment updates, Veterans may call 404-545-9452. Additionally, Veterans can call the AVAHCS main line at 404-321-6111 and press 2 to change or schedule appointments. In the event of a medical emergency, please dial 9-1-1 or proceed to the nearest emergency room. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of Veterans and staff.

The Women Veterans Program of the Atlanta VA holds quarterly baby showers, partnership between Soldier’s Angels, for new Veteran mothers. On Friday, March 6th, the ‘Drive Through’ version was held at the Atlanta VA Clinic on North Arcadia Avenue. Veteran Mothers pull into the breezeway at the front of the clinic to receive necessities such as diaper bags and baby wipes along with some fun items like plushies for the baby. The Veteran mothers are enrolled in VA healthcare and the Women Veterans Program. The ‘Drive Through’ version of the baby shower is to make it simple and accessible since many of the mothers have busy schedules. Woman Veterans Program Manager Kathleen O’Loughlin says, “It’s also an opportunity to have our Maternity Care Team here do a quick check on them.” To be a part of this, Women Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare can have their primary care doctor reach out to the Women Veterans Program or even contact Program Manager Kathleen O’Loughlin at (404) 321-6111 extension 312078.

A change to VA education benefits. Veterans no longer need to request a review to learn whether they’re affected, and VA will automatically review the files of more than one million previously identified Veterans
