Today, all Atlanta VAHCS outpatient clinics and administrative offices are closed in observance of Memorial Day. May we all take a moment to reflect and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their dedication and courage have shaped our lives in profound ways, and honoring their memory is an important part of this day.

What a day! On Wednesday, our annual VA2K brought together VA employees, Veterans, and the community to move with a mission - promoting an active lifestyle while collecting personal care and household items to help end Veteran homelessness. A huge shoutout to the Salem High School Marching Band for keeping the energy high during warm-ups and the walk!

For some Veterans, opening up about mental health can feel scary. Concerns about stigma or judgment can make it hard to reach out. This Mental Health Month, hear how others overcame these barriers and gave therapy a chance. maketheconnection.net/mental-health-…...

Atlanta VAHCS and our community partners recently celebrated the incredible women who served our country and are now stepping into one of life's greatest missions – motherhood. Our baby shower honoring Veteran mothers was a beautiful reminder that those who served are loved and appreciated. Thank you to our community partners for collaborating with us in service to those who served and our amazing staff for bridging the gap between the VA and the community. Most importantly, thank you to our Veteran moms for your sacrifice, your strength, and your service.  You are seen. You are supported. You are celebrated.

This past Wednesday, the Chaplain Service Line celebrated Nurses' Appreciation Month with our annual “Blessing of Hands” Service. This interfaith observance is a meaningful recognition of VA nurses, symbolizing appreciation and renewal. During the service, essential oils are applied to the hands to represent refreshing and rejuvenating the spirits of healthcare professionals. We extend our special thanks to Chaplain Renita Walker for providing the oil each year. Chaplain Services wishes all VA nurses a truly blessed Nurses' Appreciation Month. #BlessingOfHands #NursesAppreciationMonth

The Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) Team, comprised of Chris (Huy) Ngo and John Daniels, demonstrated exceptional dedication during the weekend of January 24–26, 2026, despite severe inclement weather conditions that made travel unsafe. Throughout this period, they maintained their commitment to providing quality care and support to our Veterans. The emergency management team exhausted their supplies, and the warehouse was out of additional cots; however, the PICC Team's work area—location 9C155—was a converted patient room transformed into an office space equipped with a full bathroom and shower. Their efforts ensured a safe and comfortable environment where staff could rest without concern for safety or comfort. Chris and John consistently go above and beyond, providing exemplary care across the hospital with professionalism and compassion. They are adaptable, eager to assist wherever needed, and frequently extend their responsibilities to support the team. Their positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and willingness to help exemplify their dedication to our mission. #DAISY4Nurses #DAISYAward #WeareVA #AtlantaVA
