Perfectly summed up by @philipaklein: "Now we’ll have to listen for months to arguments that it is our moral duty to support the Nazi tattoo guy over the threat posed by centrist Republican Senator Susan Collins, because Trump." nationalreview.com/corner/maine-s…

@CinBengalsTalk @BIGPLAY @JamesRapien @FanDuel They are not restructuring anyone. They pay salaries largely with money received from the league. Any restructure just creates cap flexibility to allow them to spend their own money. This simply will not happen in my opinion. I’d love to be proven wrong.

"I do want to make this clear: Joe Burrow is someone that would do it because of the team element, but this doesn't hurt Joe at all."

The Reds are 12-0 in games decided by 2 runs or less. That ties an MLB record set by the 1987 Brewers.

The Reds are 20-11. They've won 5-straight series and will enter May in first place for the first time since 2006🔥

@andreperrotta13 Pretty clear they are content to move on from him

You still would want to exercise the option.
Exercising the option is a precursor to an extension.
There are really only two main reasons to not exercise the 5th year option:
▪️you have no interest in keeping the player past yr-4; or
▪️it's a Tyler Linderbaum/Jack Campbell situation where exercising the option makes the player the highest paid player at the position (which clearly wouldn't have been the case with Murphy. $14.475M would be 33rd highest Edge).
If the player is in your future plans, exercising the option is a precursor to an extension. You can structure the extension to lower the 2027 Cap Hit if you're worried about the 2027 cap impact of the 5th year option.
Andy@ANichols70
@andreperrotta13 Only “long term plans” scenario where this really makes sense is the extension being so close to done that exercising the 5YO is irrelevant. Like if it was ready to be announced tomorrow.

Keep seeing this. It takes two sides to do a deal.
The DE/Edge market has already soared and has reached its apex (for now) with Will Anderson Jr.'s monster extension two weeks ago.
Why would Murphy be incentivized to sign any "cheap" deal this offseason? His own teammate, Boye Mafe, just got $20M APY on the open market.
From Myles' perspective, he should want to ball out in 2026 and force CIN's hand to sign a market-rate extension or use the Franchise Tag on him if they really want to keep him. Oh, and the Tag will cost nearly double ($28M+) the cost of the 5th yr. option ($14.475M).

Extend Myles Murphy Get him done now while he’s cheap He showed flashes & consistency last year… get it done now before his market soars

the bengals are clearly worried about 2027 cap space to the point where $14.5 million for their starting defensive end is too much of a commitment.
but that just adds another challenge to the next 4 months with now 3 starters on defense looking for pay days. atozsports.com/nfl/cincinnati…

Yes. My husband @DatDudeBP and I still have a house here we visit often. He loves it here.
Michael@FloridaBengals
Do any former Reds players still call Cincinnati home? Basically every ex player talks about "coming back" to Cincinnati.
