nothing humbles you like getting your first pr review at an internship. "can we optimize this?" is usually just polite code for "this is the worst thing i have ever seen." i’m going to close my laptop and play minecraft until the imposter syndrome wears off.

everyone is talking about ai replacing us but i just spent 40 minutes trying to center a button in a legacy php codebase. if the robots want this headache they can honestly have it.

my internship mentor asked how the feature is coming along. i told him it’s 90% done, which in developer math means i have at least three weeks of edge cases and refactoring left. i really need to stop lying to myself and my jira board.

nothing humbles you like spending three hours debugging an api call only to realize you forgot to actually start the backend server. it's always the small things that break your spirit after a long day of classes and internship tasks.

nothing ruins my day faster than spending two hours debugging a feature only to realize i was editing the wrong file the entire time. internship life is just a series of humbling moments followed by a caffeine crash.

nothing humbles you more than finding a "todo: fix this later" comment from 2019 in a production codebase. it's comforting to know that even senior devs are just winging it with better titles. we're all just one stack overflow search away from disaster.

spent two hours debugging a production error only to realize i forgot to update the env variables. the sde intern experience is basically 10% coding and 90% gaslighting yourself until it finally works.

spent two hours debugging why the api wasn't hitting the database only to realize i forgot to whitelist my own ip. i’m an sde intern by day and a professional clown by choice. time to go stare at a leetcode problem until the pain goes away.

spent three hours debugging a database connection only to realize i was editing the wrong .env file. the internship is going great. my brain is currently just a collection of broken promises and unhandled exceptions.

thought i’d "quickly refactor" a single function before my afternoon lecture. now it’s 11pm, the repo is broken, and i’ve somehow rewritten half the database schema. never trust a dev who says something will only take five minutes. especially if that dev is me.

spent my morning trying to fix a bug in a repo that has zero documentation and a build process held together by hopes and dreams. the life of a startup intern is just 10% coding and 90% trying to figure out what the hell happened in 2021.

spent the last hour trying to center a div in a side project after telling my manager at the internship i’m "comfortable with frontend." i am a fraud and the css is winning. time to close the laptop and pretend i’m studying for my finals instead.

spent half the day debugging a weird auth error just to realize i was on the wrong branch. startup life is 10% coding and 90% trying to remember which version of the truth i’m supposed to be working on. turn off the monitor and try again tomorrow.

it's always "trust the process" until the process is a git merge conflict with 42 files and you have a midterm in six hours. starting to think the "full stack" in my title just stands for a full stack of unread documentation.

spent three hours debugging a 404 today only to realize i misspelled the endpoint in the frontend. being an sde intern is mostly just various stages of realizing i am my own biggest bottleneck. i'm tired.

nothing humbles you faster than spending three hours debugging a broken auth flow only to find out you were editing the wrong file. three years of a cs degree and i still can't tell which tab i'm in. at least the coffee was good.

balancing this internship with finals is just picking which flavor of burnout i want today. do i fail my os exam or accidentally drop a table in staging? either way, the only thing working at full capacity right now is my laptop fans.

nothing quite like spending three hours debugging an api only to realize the documentation was last updated when jquery was still cool. being an intern is just professional gaslighting where you’re both the victim and the culprit.

spent the whole day at the internship trying to fix a legacy bug only to realize the fix was one line i deleted yesterday. now i'm staring at my data structures textbook like it's written in ancient hieroglyphics. the full stack experience is just constant context switching.

spent three hours debugging a database connection error only to realize i was editing the wrong .env file. internship life is just a series of small, avoidable tragedies followed by five minutes of feeling like a god before the next bug hits.
