🇬🇧 Driver avoids jail after crash that overturned a military convoy vehicle and left soldier with broken back Crenguta Aruxandei, 44, received a six-month suspended prison sentence, a 12-month driving ban, and a £154 victim surcharge after a collision in which a military Land Rover Defender flipped over, leaving its driver with a suspected broken back. According to Northamptonshire Police, dashcam footage showed the incident was “completely avoidable.” The video shows Aruxandei changing lanes in an Audi Q2 while exiting, forcing the Land Rover in a convoy to take evasive action, after which it rolled across both lanes.

@jameswpen @EarlofJersey Your statement that we are paying an unknown subsidy to BA and Easyjet is a bit odd. If so, is it paid by the Government or by Ports of Jersey? If paid by the Government it should be in the States Accounts; perhaps it is. I don't know about the finances of Ports of Jersey.

@EarlofJersey Just remember you pay an unknown amount in subsidies to BA and Easyjet and are now paying Loganair, £1.5m. Why do all these airlines get funding (that they’re not expect to pay back) and BI only get a loan?

How on earth did it get to the point that Blue Islands owed 9m to the Government? Was there any oversight in place?

@militaryhistori Made rather more difficult in Jersey by the habit of some beach cafés having single shots as standard and others double! I suppose must standardise as double, adding in extra shot when necessary.

This photo was taken on the airport road, next to Strive. Note the height of the floodlight. The hotel proposed by Strive would be 4 metres HIGHER than this floodlight. I’m not sure it has been fully understood just what a huge visual impact this development would have.
