Lifeplan is a new Group 2 winner for Kodi Bear with an impressive strike in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes. The colt was bred by Joann Lyons out of the Listed-placed Awtaad mare A Taad Moody, a half-sister to black-type scorers Sunny King and Captain Ramius. Lifeplan sold to Paul Harley Bloodstock for €85,000 at the 2023 Goffs November Foal Sale before making €165,000 to Declan Carroll at Goffs Orby Book 1 last year.

Every trainer (and stallion master) I have ever heard argue any point on the programme argues from a position of self interest (and that of their owners) and by her own frank admission so does Eve here. Initially I thought this was unnecessary tampering but then there are already two Royal Ascot 2yo races over 5f and if the pattern committee isn’t there to safeguard the integrity of the breed, what is its purpose?? Undoubtedly there will be minor winners and losers but if there is less proliferation of ‘cheap speed’ stallions is that really such a bad thing? Great debate here from two of the very best in the game. #RIPHavanaGold
