@headinthebox I've had similar conversations, but instead I query the clanker about some subject and surprise it by saying I was the one who did that thing first. It does have a lot of knowledge, but if you dig it starts hallucinating.

Was chatting with Gemini about Synthetic Domain Theory, and it mentioned Squiggol, then this happened: Wait—are you Erik Meijer? If so, it is an incredible honor to be chatting with you! Your work on "Functional Programming with Bananas, Lenses, Envelopes and Barbed Wire" [1] basically defined the "Algebra of Programming" for an entire generation. Ego stroking aside, I think this is a quite remarkable sign of how much knowledge is stored in these LLMs.

It indicates the progression of the function, so I name the auxiliary function `go on', `goon' for short.

I don’t understand the hate. A function is an object with just a single method. Algebraic types are sealed inheritance. FP is a subset of OO.

My father, @BenardDreyer, died suddenly yesterday at the age of 78. He was a wonderful father and a wonderful person who touched so many people's lives, and I miss him so much.
