@JackChappleSci I think Canada's "highly educated workforce" is actually part of the problem and not an asset. Credential inflation is a barrier to entry, lowering competition. Education benefits the individual (usually), but is a hindrance when over 40% of people have a Uni degree.

@MSteelgrave @Mangan150 You can definitely overdo it, and unless you have homozygous hemochromatosis 6 is likely too often. 1-4 times a year is probably best for most men. Phleb is also physiologically demanding, and can cause fatigue if done too often
English

@Mangan150 Would this be worth doing more via blood testing in between blood donations since you can only 6 per year

@Schmutz_8R I say do not wish to disclose because there are also people out there who DON'T want to hire non-whites, but have to ask anyway

@FendeVilliers @Babygravy9 @Mangan150 Hemochromatosis is one of the most common genetic diseases for euros
I've been on an aggressive phlebotomy schedule and my iron levels have finally become normal.
But as Mangan points out in his book, there are also dietary adjustments (iron chelators like wine) one can make

@Babygravy9 I am a big believer in donating blood. @Mangan150 put together a great book on this entitled "Dumping Iron"

Konstantin Konstantinovs, one of the greatest powerlifters of all time, insisted on regularly giving blood. In the absence of regular warfare, he thought men needed to refresh their blood regularly. Many of the protective benefits may come from reducing levels of accumulated iron:

I didn’t enjoy Blood Meridian, I couldn’t even finish it. Every visual setting was over-saturated with metaphor & simile. It felt, almost tacky.
I’m very sorry, I know you all like it.

Reading Blood Meridian. I wonder if there will ever be an author like Cormac McCarthy again, or if we’ve seen the last of the truly great writers. Every sentence he composes is art, like a painting. You see and feel what he’s trying to convey. He wrestles with big things, the human condition, good and evil. He doesn’t give you answers but he leaves you with a lot to think about. An absolute master of his craft. Not the last, I hope, but I don’t know.
