People are hunkered down but their developments are so distinct, the comparisons get fuzzy. Like sure, they were both influenced by James Brown but one was in a contained, carefully constructed world of domestic/Motown rigidity. Prince is more jam band pedigree side of JB.

Prince and Michael will always be a touchy subject on here because: 1. You're often not talking to musicians 2. Cult of personality/celebrity that surrounds them means there isn't much room for objectivity or being realistic.

There's a documentary on Netflix about these pioneers titled "A Band Called Death" I urge all fans of music history to watch. They had the opportunity to sign a major record deal but they wouldn't change their name. Fast forward 10 years and heavy, aggressive nihilistic punk/metal was a multimillion dollar industry.
