Dear Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. @OfficialBenKalu, Yesterday, we visited the site of the “construction and furnishing of an ultra-modern conference and e-learning facility at Bende Secondary Grammar School, Bende, Abia State” captured in the 2024 FG budget. Findings from govspend.ng show that N265.3m has already been paid to Muslac Techno Company Limited since December 2025. However, the school informed us that they are completely unaware of the project. More troubling is the fact that despite the school having sufficient available land, the project was seen diverted from the original beneficiary to another community in Ọnụ Inyang, at an isolated location along the Bende-Ohafia express road. At the time of our visit, no workers were found on site. The construction site already appears abandoned, with grasses gradually overtaking the structure on ground. For a project that has received such substantial payment for over six months, the level of work visible raises serious concerns about implementation, supervision, and value for public funds. Kindly call on the @FmstNg, the implementing agency, and anti-graft agencies @officialEFCC and @icpcnigeria to investigate this project and provide the public with clear answers. - Why was the project moved away from the beneficiary school? - Who approved the relocation? - What exactly justifies the N265.3m already paid? Public projects must serve the communities they were budgeted for, not become another case of questionable execution and weak accountability. #publicfundsmustworkforthegoodofthepeople #askquestions

Our fight for improved service delivery goes hand in hand with discouraging the misuse and waste of public resources! Case in point: this facility was constructed in Abia state in 2024. From 2023 to 2025, a total of N20.5m was paid to ZEPEK CONCEPTS LIMITED for the Construction of Sanitation & Hygiene Facilities with Solar Powered Borehole at Eketa Market Isieket and Umuleghele Community Primary School Both in Isieke, Isialangwa South LGA, Abia state. We tracked and report that toilet construction and water tank installation was done in Eketa market in 2024 but the facility never served the community. The water facility constructed never worked, not even once, a situation that led to the community's inability to use the toilet. Both facilities are now in very dilapidated conditions, out of use, surrounded by bush and abandoned. A facility that cost millions is now sitting unused and depleting. According to residents, "since the construction of this facility, it has never served us, and we had no way to reach the contractor." We call on @FMWR_Nigeria, the implementing agency, to: - Provide the public with details of this project - Call the contractor back to the site. - Facilitate proper handover of the project after renovation. #publicfundsmustworkforthegoodofthepeople #Askquestions

Under the PACE project, we tracked several climate related projects in Abia state. From 2022 to 2024, a total of N32.7m was paid to Aribosar Ventures LTD for the Construction of Umunwanwa Irrigation, Erosion and Flood Control Works, Abia state. We tracked and report that the internal road was constructed in 2022 with drainage to control flooding. Our observations show that the drainages now need maintenance. We call on Anambra/Imo River Basin Development Authority, the implementing agency to facilitate maintenance works for this project.

We paid monitoring visits to PHCs across LGAs in Ebonyi State including Enyibichiri Model PHC, Ndiogadoshi PHC (Ndiagu Echara 2), Ogudunwatuzo PHC (Uburu), Okposi Urban PHC, and Obiozara PHC. At Enyibichiri Model PHC and Obiozara PHC, a motorized borehole with overhead tanks was installed but the outlook of the facilities still need renovation. Also at Ndiogadoshi PHC, the facility for immunization and malaria services is currently at roofing stage, as well as three additional buildings.

At Enyibichiri PHC, there is still a shortage of staff and a leaking roof that requires urgent repair. At Ogudunwatuzo PHC, there were concerns about the quality of ongoing revitalization work, with reports of substandard materials being used and newly installed infrastructure already deteriorating. #FixOurPHCs

In Sept 2024, N86.5m was paid to KELEKING GLOBAL RESOURCES Ltd for the Supply & Install of Renewable Solar Street Light in Amuzu & Umuode Villa of Abia State. We visited and saw 3 streetlights. According to residents, most of them disappeared when the construction of Umuodo road began last year. There was no way to ascertain what happened with the streetlights as there were no workers on site. We call on @fedccojiriver, the implementing agency to provide the public with details of this project.

If you live in Lagos Island, then this concerns YOU. Did you know that? Between January and December 2025 alone, Lagos Island LGA received a total of N21.14bn in FAAC allocations. Out of the N6.51bn FAAC projected in its 2026 budget, N7.63bn had already been received between January and March alone. Even more shocking 🤔, according to its 2026 budget record, FAAC revenue increased by 818.72%, from N462.57m in 2024 to N4.24bn in 2025. Yet, the LGA’s projected Internally Generated Revenue for 2026 is just N638m out of a N16.62bn budget. Now the real question is: - Are you seeing the impact of these funds in your roads, schools, healthcare centres, drainage systems, markets, or communities? 🤔 - What projects have been completed? - What exactly is being funded? - Who is monitoring implementation? - How is this money improving your daily life? - As residents of Lagos Island, we cannot afford to be silent observers anymore. Accountability starts with asking questions. Be the voice that drives transparency, accountability, and better governance in Lagos Island today. Visit me.budgit.org to track projects, allocations, and public spending in your LGA. #ParticipatoryGovernance #AskQuestions #ProductTuesday

Last month, our Ogun state officer was on the Hard Talk show at Rockcity 101.8 FM to discuss local government autonomy and the need for transparency in local government councils. We also encouraged listeners to frequently use the me.budgit.org website to get real time data about their local government allocations so they can demand accountability from their representatives.
