This new release significantly enhances workflow automation, productivity, and user experience through deeper integration of Artificial Intelligence. Since its initial launch in 2017, MEDUSA has continuously evolved to automate every stage of the cataloging process while maintaining human oversight to ensure data quality and validation. With version 3.9, the platform is now capable of automatically extracting an increasing volume of inventory, cataloging, and indexing data from handwritten, typed, printed documents—and even physical objects. 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. One of the key innovations in MEDUSA 3.9 is the automatic extraction of bibliographic and indexing data from document images (books, catalog cards, archival materials, etc.). By combining Optical Character Recognition (OCR/ICR) with AI-driven analysis, MEDUSA can identify essential elements such as title, author, publication date, and publisher. These data points are then presented directly within the cataloging interface, allowing users to simply review and validate them. This approach significantly reduces manual data entry and improves overall efficiency. 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. MEDUSA 3.9 introduces new action buttons that enable users to quickly indicate the appropriate corrective action. With a single click, users can select options such as “modify record” or “create new record,” streamlining communication and accelerating issue resolution. 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞-𝐭𝐨-𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. The platform now includes a voice-to-text feature that allows users to dictate comments and corrections in either French or English. These annotations are transcribed in real time and can be edited afterward, making review processes faster and more efficient. 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰. Users can now highlight any portion of text within a record or index, and the selected content is automatically inserted into the comment field. This eliminates the need for manual copying and ensures precise, efficient feedback. 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬. MEDUSA also enables users to export datasets or records for offline work. Aurexus… back from Mars (for now) Yesterday, we shared an announcement about Aurexus contributing to the first operational library on Mars. As you may have guessed… it was our way of celebrating April Fool’s Day. A small tradition we are happy to perpetuate, a moment where imagination is given free rein, where bold ideas, improbable projects, and even a few well-crafted “truths” can coexist. We hope you enjoyed it, and perhaps even believed it for a moment. And if it felt plausible, it is probably because part of it was rooted in reality. From the Phoenix mission to ongoing reflections around “knowledge arks”, humanity has already started sending fragments of its culture beyond Earth to the Moon, to Mars, and beyond. At Aurexus, we do have big ambitions. A fully operational library on Mars may not be for tomorrow, but the spirit behind it, pushing the boundaries of access to knowledge — is very real. Today, we are working on projects that are both ambitious and grounded, some of them : “I Have a Dream” – Cataloguing reimagined Imagine showing a book cover to a system that automatically generates a complete UNIMARC record. With the support of AI, this vision is rapidly becoming tangible at AureXus. AI-powered archival intelligence We are developing new generations of XML EAD and RIC frameworks, where encoding, structuring, and even graph generation can be produced automatically, dramatically simplifying complex archival workflows. MEDUSA – evolving to version 4 Our flagship platform for cataloguing and beyond continues to grow. Version 4 is on the horizon, bringing a new wave of features designed to transform how institutions manage and access knowledge. So, was the Martian library entirely fiction? Perhaps not entirely. Aurexus extends its Expertise to Mars Aurexus has been selected as part of a joint initiative bringing together the French Ministry of Culture, the United Nations, and major institutional partners including NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), to contribute to the design and deployment of the first operational library on Mars. This program builds on earlier “cultural payload” initiatives, notably the Phoenix mission, whose digital archives were symbolically intended for potential Martian discoverers. The project led by Aurexus marks a significant shift: from a message sent into space to a living infrastructure designed for the first human settlers. The architecture is based on international documentary standards such as UNIMARC, integrated into a latency-tolerant library system, specifically designed to address Earth–Mars communication delays. This approach aligns with the principles of Bibliographic Transition, ensuring metadata interoperability and long-term preservation within a distributed ecosystem. The system also incorporates advanced embedded artificial intelligence capabilities: autonomous semantic indexing, adaptive recommendation engines, offline-first conversational agents, and models optimized for constrained computing environments. Together, these components enable contextualized access to knowledge, regardless of interplanetary connectivity limitations. The initiative further leverages the principles of the Cultural Interoperability Framework (RIC), ensuring seamless circulation of knowledge between terrestrial and extra-terrestrial infrastructures, while maintaining compliance with international cultural data governance standards. Beyond technological performance, this initiative aims to establish the foundations of a universal model for access to knowledge, aligned with global reflections on “knowledge arks” and the long-term preservation of humanity’s intellectual heritage at an interplanetary scale. 📍 Retour sur les RASAD 2026 Les 12 et 13 mars, AureXus a participé aux Rencontres annuelles de la section des archivistes départementaux (RASAD), organisées par l’Association des Archivistes Français à Caen. Cet événement a permis de confronter les orientations du secteur des archives à leurs réalités opérationnelles. 🔎 Ce que l’on retient : -une transformation des pratiques professionnelles encore en cours, -une place des usagers qui reste à renforcer dans les projets structurants, -une transition numérique engagée mais inégale selon les services, -des usages de l’intelligence artificielle en développement, encore limités à des cas ciblés. 📌 Des besoins concrets se dégagent clairement : -produire des métadonnées fiables et exploitables, -améliorer la qualité des traitements OCR, -structurer et indexer des volumes documentaires croissants, -développer des outils facilitant l’accès et l’accompagnement des usagers, -intégrer les contraintes juridiques dans la diffusion des données. 👉 Ces constats confirment que les enjeux du secteur sont désormais opérationnels : qualité des données, outils, et accès effectif aux archives. 🌍 Journée internationale de la Francophonie – 20 mars Le 20 mars 1970, à Niamey (Niger), est créée l’Agence de coopération culturelle et technique, devenue par la suite l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. Cette date a été retenue pour marquer la Journée internationale de la Francophonie. Aujourd’hui, la langue française compte environ 321 millions de locuteurs à travers le monde. Selon les estimations, ce nombre pourrait atteindre entre 600 et 700 millions d’ici 2050. Le français est actuellement : • la 5ᵉ langue la plus parlée au monde • la 4ᵉ langue la plus utilisée sur Internet Cette journée met en lumière le rôle du français comme langue de communication, de coopération et de diffusion culturelle à l’échelle internationale.

On this International Women's Day, AureXus reaffirms its commitment to women’s rights and gender equality. Working under the direction of the Council of Europe, AureXus contributes to the promotion of women’s rights across Europe and beyond by developing localized e-learning modules available in many European languages. These courses are delivered not only in English and French, but also in a wide range of other European languages. Based on the principles promoted by the Council of Europe, these courses help women learn about their rights in their own languages. Localized versions are being developed for countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Montenegro, and others; and are even available in Arabic to reach wider audiences. Through these multilingual learning pathways, AureXus aims to make knowledge about women’s rights accessible, inclusive, and empowering for all.

This project is part of an initiative aimed at enhancing and 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 this remarkable heritage collection for the benefit of 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. It highlights AureXus’ expertise in document processing of multilingual corpus and 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 characters, incorporating advanced methodologies to meet the cataloguing requirements. C’est la nuit de la lecture! Partout en France, des bibliothèques et lieux culturels proposent des lectures, rencontres et animations autour du livre. 📚 Et vous, lors de cette soirée dédiée à la lecture, qu’allez-vous lire ?

@AureXus a été sélectionnée pour réaliser la rétroconversion de plus de 20 000 notices de la Médiathèque Vailland à Bourg en Bresse. Ce projet permettra aux chercheurs, aux étudiants, au grand public ainsi qu’aux moteurs de recherche d'obtenir une meilleure connaissance du contenu des collections de la Médiathèque et facilitera la localisation des ouvrages recherchés. Les notices de la collection, conservées sous forme de fiches dactylographiées et manuscrites ainsi que les registres manuscrits, vont être numérisées et transformées en métadonnées structurées conformes à la norme ISBD (International Standard Bibliographic Description) et enfin en notices au format UNIMARC. La majorité du fonds traité lors de ce projet repose sur des informations manuscrites ce qui apporte une complexité supplémentaire. @AureXus has been selected to carry out the retrospective conversion of more than 20,000 book records for the Roger Vailland Media Library in Bourg-en-Bresse. This project will enable researchers, students, the general public, and search engines to gain a better understanding of the content in the library’s collections and will make it easier to locate the materials they are searching for. The collection records, currently preserved in the form of typed and handwritten cards as well as handwritten registers, will be digitized and transformed into structured metadata compliant with the ISBD (International Standard Bibliographic Description) standard, and then into records in the UNIMARC format. Most of the collection processed in this project is based on handwritten information, which adds an additional layer of challenges.
