One of the most well-used weapons of a narcissist/psychopath/coercive controller is that of isolation of their target. It is the cruelest form of non-physical torture. The n/p/cc works hard to ensure the target loses connection and support from all key people in their world - family members, friends, colleagues, others, even their own children. Targets may feel so bereft they suicide. The n/p/cc isolates the target by lying about the target, privately expressing concern for the target’s mental health and suggesting people stay away, provoking the target publicly so people feel uncomfortable and pull away, attributing their own nefarious qualities to the target and so on. It is a masterful process of manipulation designed to cause destruction of another human being. My PhD data indicates n/p/cc who are higher functioning are equally as committed to destroying their targets as those in prison for murder. They just use less overt techniques.
