For some time now, I’ve been fascinated by FPGA hardware. While playing around with my Analogue3D a while back, I had this idea… I remember going to arcades in 1995/96 and, while early 3D games like Virtua Fighter and Tekken were the big technological leap, it was often the Metal Slug cabinet that had the crowd around it. That got me thinking: What if instead of chasing early 3D, one of the platform holders had built an absolute monster 2D machine? A console designed to push sprite art, parallax, animation, color, scaling and raster effects way beyond what SNES, Mega Drive or even Neo Geo could realistically do at home. So this weekend I wanted to test how far current AI models could go to help design and implement a complete FPGA console around that fantasy. And… the software layer is already done. Including an emulator for that machine. The hardware spec I ended up with: 100MHz RISC-V CPU 8MB system RAM 8MB shared VRAM Dedicated 2D PPU built for huge sprite counts, multiple BG layers, affine/raster effects and palettes ...and a modest 3D GPU because by that point some 3D would’ve been inevitable anyway. And to test the machine, of course we need some games. Since doom, quake, etc. are open source, that's the first thing I tried to port to this fantasy console 🤣 And since I'm a console child of the 90s, I AI'd quite some changes into those ports and supported modern controller layouts and up to 4 Player Splitscreen. Fun Project! 👍

Across all available Circana/NPD data and mainstream industry coverage, there is no credible indication that the Xbox Series X/S ever surpassed the PS5 in any U.S. month during that entire period.

A ver si me he enterado bien, X... Bloqueo a una cuenta por salud mental: bien porque fomenta un tipo de contenido que no comparto y/o es peligroso, me ha insultado, molestado e incluso cosas peores. Ahora, aunque les tenga bloqueados, podrán seguir viendo mis posts, promoviendo aún más a fomentar el ac0so (antes tenían que buscarme aposta, ahora simplemente les saldré en su TL). La única manera que tengo de protegerme es poniendo mis posts privados. Y se lo dices a una cuenta que requiere de que sus posts sean públicos para conseguir trabajo. Vamos mal, X, vamos MUY mal.
