That's not a dark fantasy then. Dark fantasy will inevitably have some sort of sadness or drama. The good dark fantasies, however, balance that with lighthearted moments and comedy. They don't lean into melodrama or constantly killing people to make you feel something. I don't make manga, because I'm not Japanese, but I do try to keep my story balanced. A ruined world, with dangers, is always going to be stressful in some way. You can't have MCs that are happy in that world unless they're psychopaths who enjoy the violence, naïve (which only lasts so long), or incredibly stupid. You can definitely create times where they have fun, experience romance, and have a good time, which is what I try and do, but darkness is literally in the name of the genre. Eventually bad things will happen. You're looking for high fantasy or fantasy that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world without that being the focus. Think "Kemono Friends" or something like that where the world is ruined, but it's mostly a background lore detail. It'll never be dark fantasy because drama, horror, and death are cornerstones of the genre. They'll always be at the forefront of that sort of storytelling.

I want a manga that’s a dark fantasy adventure but it’s not depressing, like I want it to take place in a grim and decayed world with ancient ruins and monsters but I still want the MCs to be cheery and having a good time on a adventure
