An abandoned, hijacked CBD building turned into a fully let student housing success story👏💪 Remington House, situated on Nugget Street in Johannesburg, has been transformed into a green-certified mixed-use building with affordable rental units and is fully let. The office block was previously abandoned and later hijacked. Today, she’s a student accommodation success story. Details of the building: •⁠ Building area: 7 191m2 •⁠ 133 bachelor apartments •⁠ 5 ground-floor retail shops •⁠ 14 parking bays •⁠ Amenities: study centre and gym •⁠ EDGE results: Energy 27.81%; Water 22.40%; Materials (embodied carbon) 51.00% •⁠ Resource systems: Centralised heat pumps; solar installation; borehole and filtration; LED lighting; low-flow fixtures; dual-flush toilets; optimised façade glazing So many buildings have been hijacked in this street; one can only hope that more can be saved.
