Last night we hit up Kangaroo Point to wrap up Australia Month. Quick schooner, pub feed, then down to the iconic cliffs overlooking Brisbane city. Climbing gum trees, flying Aussie flags, and catching up with the boys. The vibe was unreal. Families, couples, people on dates and having barbies — heaps of folks walking past were saying, “Well done boys, keep it up.” Proper Aussie spirit, very positive energy. We’re going hard this year, banging up flags, building mateship, and having a ripper time doing it. Today we mark 125 years since the Australian Constitution came into effect and the Commonwealth of Australia was born — on 1 January 1901, six former colonies united as one nation under a federal Constitution. We celebrated Federation Day by raising an Australian-made flag on an Australian-made flagpole for the first time right here with family, friends and our local community. There were speeches, the Constitution, a delicious barbecue and pavlova — a powerful and proud moment for all of us. Happy Federation Day. The problem with all evolutionary accounts of morality is that they change the subject from what gives moral imperatives their authority - the key question in meta-ethics - to a completely different question that has no necessary bearing on the former: where do our moral imperatives historically come from. Even if you can explain how our moral intuitions arise biologically/historically, that doesn’t answer the question of what endows them with actual normative authority. Once you distinguish between explaining the origins of moral intuitions and the authority of moral intuitions, evolutionary accounts become far less impressive. In fact, we are able to recognise them for what they are: clever evasions of the real question.

Rumours are emerging from within One Nation HQ that @OneNationAus plans to preference LNP ahead of Katter’s Australian Party in the upcoming Hinchinbrook by-election. If true, this is traitorous and needs to be shot down. The Katters have been strong supporters of March For Australia.
