Upsetting to hear that young kids are getting depression/anxiety/losing purpose around their performance in baseball (A game, that really means nothing at the end of the day) Your purpose is not being an athlete or throwing a ball well. Find roots in more solid ground.

Positive self-talk is for softies. All that "I am confident, I am strong, I believe in myself" wah wah? It's mental stroking for people who are too afraid to face the real fuel that drives elite performance: Your deepest, most painful insecurity. The thing that keeps you up at 3 AM staring at the ceiling. The thought that makes your stomach drop when it creeps into your head during warm-ups. THAT is your rocket fuel. Here's what I mean: I've talked extensively about my college days. How I felt like I wasn't a physical specimen. How I always felt like the coaches were waiting for me to fail. I could've sat there chanting "I'm good enough, I'm strong enough" like some discount Stuart Smalley. Instead, I used that insecurity like jet fuel. Every time I walked into the weight room, I thought about how the scouts passed on me. How they probably looked at my dumpy frame and laughed. Every time I picked up a baseball, I thought about how I'd never be the genetic freak that college coaches drool over. And you know what happened? I got PISSED. Not sad. Not defeated. PISSED. And pissed-off people do extraordinary things. They lift weights that shouldn't be possible for their frame. They throw harder than their "metrics" suggest they should. They compete with a level of intensity that makes everyone else uncomfortable. Your insecurity isn't something to "overcome" or "manage." It's something to WEAPONIZE. Think about it: Worried you're too small? Use that as fuel to become the most explosive, most mobile athlete on the field. Scared you don't throw hard enough? Channel that fear into every single rep of your velocity program. Convinced you're not mentally tough? Use that doubt to push through workouts that would break other people. The guys who "think positive" all the time? They're the ones who fold when the pressure gets real. Because they've never learned to harness the darker emotions that actually drive peak performance. But you? You're going to be different. You're going to take that voice in your head that says "you're not good enough" and turn it into your personal trainer, your motivational speaker, and your competitive advantage all rolled into one. Every time you step on the mound, that insecurity should be right there with you. Not as something to overcome, but as something to CHANNEL. Because the most dangerous competitor isn't the guy who thinks he's the best. It's the guy who's terrified he's not good enough and is willing to DIE proving otherwise. That's your assignment this week: Stop trying to silence your insecurities. Start using them as fuel.

Murray St. making it to Omaha is one of the best stories in college sports. This is their stadium it holds 800 people. Their head coach Dan Skirka literally cuts the grass. Gotta feel good for those guys.

Pirates really out here with a generational talent in their rotation in Paul Skenes. Have him and Jared Jones ready to rock. Yet refuse to add legitimate pieces to their lineup. Even as a non-Pirates fan it’s infuriating to see.

That was the best weeknight crowd in PNC Park I’ve ever been apart of. Sans playoffs. That’s what Skenes does. It’s energized this fanbase. Now reward us with a big bat. Go for it.

In Game 2 of the doubleheader against Shepherd, @MUbaseball LHP Eric Gustofson took the mound and left a winner, throwing a 7-inning complete game of 3 hits and 0 earned run ball with FIFTEEN STRIKEOUTS. (Video of his 14th strikeout since the stream cut off before the final out) That performance put his ERA at 2.55 with 44 Ks over 24.2 IP. #D2Baseball
