@knightama @netflix They did the same to me. They are looking for free work for sure! Even insulted me by saying I needed more foundational artistic understanding and sent the same AI tutorials haha

How @Netflix got mad because I wouldn’t hand over my prompts for FREE - A thread ⤵️
A Netflix AI division asked me to do a free test for a potential job. I usually refuse free tests because free doesn't pay bills, but being Netflix I said why not, it may be a good opportunity.

@javilopen I’ve seen ai enthusiasts say things like “adopt or die” “Ai takeover is inevitable” “get on board or be left behind”
English

The biggest problem with AI haters isn't that they resist the greatest paradigm shift in human history... that's understandable: changes are hard for many; it was super hard during the industrial revolution too!
No, the problem is their reductionist and, above all, fundamentalist view of the issue, where they try to impose their vision at all costs: criticizing, vilifying, insulting, throwing tantrums, biting, and basically acting like fanatics.
On the other hand, I don't know a single gen AI enthusiast who goes around trying to force others to use or not use certain tools.

English

@javilopen Do you think corporations will bypass creators completely and serve AI gen content directly to us based on the algorithm?

About that common argument I keep hearing : “AI can’t create anything new because it only recombines what it’s seen from others”:
Come on, genius. The stuff you create, did it beam in from another dimension or what? 😂
Creating something “new” always means using everything that has stuck in our brains through our senses, plus the little boot-sector we come with by default (basic instincts, the so-called “reptile brain”).
If what you’ve stitched together shows the seams, it’s a bad creation. If it’s well woven, congrats: you’ve made something “new.” And if it’s stitched really, really well, you’ve made a great piece.
With AI, it’s pretty much the same. Even if today it doesn’t have qualia or consciousness, it can recombine everything it has “seen” (what it was trained on) to create new things.
From something as simple as “creating” the color gray after being trained only on black and white, to the first glimmers of higher-level cognitive abilities like solving complex problems and, over the next decade, much more: research and the discovery of new science.
Creativity is interpolation between previously absorbed concepts, sometimes better, sometimes worse. With more or less depth. Nothing more, nothing less.
If that interpolation is deep enough, you’re looking at a major creation: a masterpiece, a scientific discovery, a new mathematical theorem.
No, humans don’t have anything magical that couldn’t also show up in other biological entities or, in this case, artificial ones.

The most painful thing about AI is not that it's going to take our jobs. It is accepting that creativity, reasoning, and genius, which we believed were unique to the human species, can be emulated simply by multiplying matrices at ludicrous speed. Semen retentum venenum est.

See how Eyeline Studios' volumetric capture tech was used to put Christopher Lloyd's head in a jar in Scanline VFX's making-of for Season 2 of Wednesday

@MarkOfBecking @Polycam3D On top of getting your models + photos scrapped by Polycam
English

@Polycam3D 3 captures unless I pay €199 you have to f**king kidding me. Your pricing is absolutely insane!! Who in their right mind would pay €199 a year to use your app. Nuts! Used to be €79. Greed is a horrible thing.

@bilawalsidhu Would be awesome to do this to my favorite movie.

It's interesting. If a 3D artist had done this by hand in a game engine, I would love it & think it's a skillfully inspired re-imagining. Because it's AI it completely changes my feelings. It feels pointless, detached, uninspired & tainted.
Art vs Slop content 🤷♂️

Something fun we discovered: you can use #Genie3 to step into and explore your favorite paintings. Here's a short visit to Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks".
