@Julia_In_JT They change as they refill their tanks. The cost to refill goes up. This station was one of the first because it consistently clears its volume faster.

GAS PRICES SURGE: Gas prices in Santa Clarita have officially crossed the $6 per gallon mark, rising more than a $1 a gallon over the last few days and further highlighting the continued surge in fuel costs across California as refinery shutdowns and global tensions disrupt the supply chain. The spike was visible at a gas station located at The Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway, just west of Interstate 5, where drivers were seen paying more than $6 per gallon. Nationally, fuel prices have also been climbing. The average price for gasoline in the United States has risen from $2.94 per gallon to about $3.45 in recent weeks. Despite the increase, California drivers continue to pay significantly more than the national average. In major California markets including Los Angeles and San Francisco, prices are hovering near $5 per gallon, roughly 50 percent higher than the national average. Analysts say the increase is being fueled in part by tensions involving Iran that are disrupting global oil supplies. At the same time, California’s refining capacity has taken a significant hit. Recent refinery closures have reduced the state’s gasoline production capacity by approximately 20 percent, forcing the state to rely more heavily on imported fuel. Officials say roughly 30 percent of California’s imported gasoline now comes from overseas sources in the Middle East, making prices more vulnerable to geopolitical instability. Energy analysts also point to California’s stricter environmental regulations and policy decisions, which they say have accelerated the decline of in-state oil production. As local production falls and refinery capacity shrinks, the state has become increasingly exposed to fluctuations in the global energy market. For drivers in Santa Clarita and across California, the result is being felt immediately at the pump, where prices are now among the highest in the nation.

Wild story. A quiet Saugus neighborhood was thrust into chaos overnight after a Santa Clarita couple accused a fellow tenant of secretly poisoning their food — an allegation that led to hospitalizations and an hours-long barricade. The incident unfolded overnight in the 28800 block of Cedar Ridge Court in the Saugus area of Santa Clarita. According to authorities, deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home after a 911 caller reported a man suspected of poisoning food — a violation of California Penal Code 347 — was inside the residence. The couple said they share the home with the man and became suspicious after experiencing unexplained health issues in recent months. Security video inside the home allegedly captured the man on two separate occasions — Oct. 10, 2025, and Dec. 20, 2025 — spraying what the couple says is insect killer directly onto their food and groceries. The couple told me they later developed serious medical conditions, including liver and heart complications. Doctors, they said, described their symptoms as being consistent with possible poisoning. Deputies had previously responded to the residence Monday after the couple first discovered the footage. When authorities returned last night, the situation escalated into a tense barricade. For several hours, deputies worked to persuade the man to exit the home peacefully. A can of Raid insect killer was taken as evidence by sheriff’s deputies. Eventually, the suspect was detained and issued a citation on suspicion of poisoning, authorities confirmed.

WILD! A violent multi-vehicle crash was caught on camera today after a driver allegedly ran a red light and plowed into several vehicles, prompting deputies to deploy a Taser during a confrontation at the scene. The collision happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of Railroad Avenue and Oak Ridge Drive in Santa Clarita. Video captured by a Tesla dash camera shows a white BMW speeding into the intersection against a red light before slamming into multiple vehicles that were turning eastbound onto Oak Ridge Drive from Railroad Avenue. The force of the impact sent debris scattering across the roadway and left several cars disabled in the intersection. First responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived within minutes, along with paramedics and ambulances. The number and severity of injuries were not immediately confirmed, though several patients were evaluated at the scene. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department secured the area as tensions escalated between those involved in the crash. Witnesses reported a physical altercation broke out among motorists moments after the collision. Authorities confirmed one individual was tased by deputies during the fight and subsequently detained. It remains unclear whether that person was connected to the BMW or another vehicle involved in the crash. Traffic through the intersection was heavily impacted as investigators worked to document the scene and clear the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Two people were killed overnight in a violent multi-vehicle crash at a busy Santa Clarita intersection, resulting in a DUI arrest, according to witnesses and officials on scene. The collision happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road and involved at least three vehicles. Firefighters arrived to find several people trapped inside the wrecked vehicles and immediately requested additional resources to assist with extrication and medical care. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station sealed off the area with crime scene tape before confirming that one person had died at the scene. Multiple ambulances and paramedic squads were called in to transport several injured patients. Authorities have not released an exact number of those taken to a nearby trauma center. A second person was later pronounced dead at a trauma center. One driver was administered a breathalyzer test at the scene prior to being transported to the hospital. One person was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the intersection was closed for several hours as authorities worked the scene and gathered evidence.

A mountain lion cub believed to be injured or confused was found alive early this morning in a residential neighborhood in Castaic, prompting a response from law enforcement. The cub was spotted shortly before 1 a.m. lying in the middle of Hillcrest Parkway, east of Olympic Street, near several homes. A 911 caller reported seeing a total of three mountain lions roaming the area before officers arrived. Units from @CHP_Newhall located the young mountain lion snoozing in the roadway. Authorities say the cub appeared calm as officers monitored the scene. Just before 2:30 a.m., as officers attempted to approach, the cub suddenly fled the street and ran into a nearby backyard.

BREAKING: A U-Haul truck plowed into a dense crowd of demonstrators this afternoon during a large protest calling for regime change in Iran, injuring at least two people and triggering chaos along a packed march route, authorities said. The violent moment unfolded around 3:30 p.m. as more than 10,000 demonstrators surged through the Westwood neighborhood, marching southbound on Veteran Avenue before turning onto Ohio Avenue. The rally began earlier outside the Wilshire Federal Building, where thousands gathered in solidarity with protesters in Iran amid months of deadly unrest. Witnesses said the driver steered the large moving truck past an apparent police closure and directly toward the crowd. The vehicle, covered in anti–regime change messaging, quickly became the focus of demonstrators’ anger. Moments later, after several windows were shattered, the truck suddenly accelerated forward at a high rate of speed, sending people running in all directions. It remains unclear whether the truck directly struck anyone. Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department said at least two people were injured and treated at the scene but declined transport to a hospital. Fire officials added they were attempting to locate a possible third injured person, though the sheer size of the crowd significantly delayed access. The demonstration was organized in response to ongoing protests in Iran that have reportedly resulted in more than 580 deaths during violent crackdowns. By Sunday evening, the situation in Westwood remained fluid as investigators worked to determine how the truck breached the closure and whether the act was intentional. I remember sitting in the street, ash in my eyes, wondering… how could this happen? Homes fell like dominoes, one after another, defeated by unforgiving flames. Firefighters — understaffed, overwhelmed — fought until the hydrants ran dry. And that’s when the neighborhoods fell. One… by… one. An entire community in flames. Whole blocks erased, wiped from the face of the earth. By morning, it was unmistakable. Pacific Palisades was a war zone — less a neighborhood than the aftermath of a bombing. The quiet charm of a 1920s suburb reduced to ash. How does an entire community disappear? I remember sitting in the street one year ago, ash in my eyes, wondering… how could this happen?
