Public safety is a team effort. That’s why in Pennsylvania we’re investing in police officers AND community-driven violence prevention programs. @JoshShapiroPA and I are funding law enforcement, backing community-based organizations to reduce gun violence, and expanding after school programs that keep our kids safe and engaged. Creating safer communities takes all of us working together — and I won’t ever stop fighting to make our Commonwealth safer.

For almost 345 years, Pennsylvania has been a home of acceptance, equality and opportunity. Where dreams, hard work and determination can become reality for anyone, including the son of a union bus driver and hairdresser.   And in my time as Pennsylvania’s 35th Lieutenant Governor, I’ve been honored to meet so many of you who show up everyday in your communities for your neighbors, family and friends, making this Commonwealth the best place to live.   Happy Pennsylvania Day!

Six years ago today, we lost Congressman John Lewis, but his legacy continues to guide us. Congressman Lewis dedicated his life to expanding the promise of our democracy and ensuring every person had the opportunity to make their voice heard. His courage, conviction, and unwavering belief in justice changed our country for the better. As Pennsylvania's first Black Lieutenant Governor, I know I stand on the shoulders of leaders like John Lewis, whose sacrifices helped make it possible for people like me to serve. May we honor his legacy by continuing to build a Commonwealth and a country where every person has a voice, every vote counts, and everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

.@JoshShapiroPA and I have been clear: Pennsylvania's elections remain safe, secure, free, and fair. Last night, Donald Trump continued to push baseless claims about our elections that are completely disconnected from reality. Whether it's pushing dangerous conspiracy theories about the 2020 election or gutting the Voting Rights Act, Trump and his enablers are hellbent on suppressing voters across the country. I will always stand up to protect your right to vote in Pennsylvania — and we will continue to have safe and secure elections in our Commonwealth.

What folks want from their leaders is simple: people who will step up and address the issues they’re facing in their daily lives. That’s not what they’re getting from Washington. Instead, Donald Trump and his enablers continue to spew more chaos and confusion, all at the cost of hard working Pennsylvanians.

During our first term in office, @JoshShapiroPA and I have worked hard to deliver historic investments in education, childcare, workforce, and public safety. You deserve a government that works for you — and we won’t ever stop fighting to deliver that.

Every child in Pennsylvania deserves a real shot at success — starting in the classroom. Since @JoshShapiroPA and I took office, we’ve increased education funding by over $3 billion. That means universal free breakfast, expanded mental health services, and more — because if we want our kids to have Pennsylvania’s back, we have to have theirs.

In a moment of crisis, you should never have to worry about whether the help you need will be there. That's why Governor Shapiro and I have made major investments in Pennsylvania's 988 crisis hotline. We know mental health is just as important as physical health, and every Pennsylvanian deserves access to care when they need it most.

Growing up in a working class family in McKeesport taught me what community meant. It’s about looking out for one another, and that dignity is something everyone deserves. I carry that lesson with me every day I go to work, because safety and opportunity should never depend on your zip code.

From the NFL Draft to World Cup Matches and now the MLB All-Star game, Pennsylvania has set the stage this year, showing off our one-of-a-kind cities and creating real economic opportunity, now and in the future. Businesses are looking at us to grow their workforce and expand their capacity as they see that we can do big things here with big results. PA is open for business.

As a first-generation college graduate, I know firsthand how important it is to provide the resources young Pennsylvanians need so that they can chart their own course. That’s why Governor Shapiro and I have worked hard in our first term to make higher education more affordable, more accessible, and focused on preparing our students for success, no matter what their path looks like.

As your Governor and Lieutenant Governor, @JoshShapiroPA and I are going to work every day to deliver for our Commonwealth. No matter who you are, you deserve the opportunity to get ahead, which is why we’re working hard to build a brighter, safer, and more affordable future for every Pennsylvanian.

I’ve seen firsthand the benefits that a good union paying job can provide. As your Lieutenant Governor and the son of a union bus driver, I will always fight for the men and women of organized labor, and ensure Pennsylvania never becomes a right to work state.

Philly’s time to shine!

It was a great day in the Hill District!   The New Granada Theater will now receive Main Street Matters funding to begin Phase two of its revitalization, helping restore a historic landmark that has shaped Pittsburgh for generations.

When I was 16, violence came to my neighborhood in a way that changed my life. A man was shot on my block, and my sense of security was shattered. That moment motivated me to begin a career in public service and do what I could to make sure our communities are protected — because every Pennsylvanian deserves to feel safe in the place they call home.

Main Streets like my hometown of McKeesport's Fifth Avenue are pillars of Pennsylvania’s communities, and investing in them means investing in the communities that make our Commonwealth unique. Governor Shapiro and I have worked hard to deliver for our Main Streets, and as long as we’re in office, we’ll always have the backs of Pennsylvania’s small businesses.

Governor Shapiro and I go to work every day guided by three letters: GSD. When we come together and roll up our sleeves to keep moving our Commonwealth forward, there’s nothing we can’t achieve — that’s the Pennsylvania way.
