imo Stripe acquiring PayPal could be one of the biggest stories we've seen in consumer payments. Stripe surpassed PayPal in payment volume for the first time last year. Combined they'd process ~$3.7T annually, or ~3% of global GDP. The real prize for Stripe is Venmo. Overnight, Stripe would add ~439M active consumer accounts and become one of the largest consumer payments networks in the world. There aren't many payments companies with meaningful scale on both the merchant and consumer side. This deal would give Stripe one of the strongest two-sided payments networks across the globe. If the deal goes through, I think it could change the consumer payments landscape for a long time.
