Granbury ISD has officially been realigned by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and will compete in District 3-6A for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years. As part of the new alignment, Granbury High School will move up to the 6A classification for the first time and join the following schools in District 3-6A: • Aledo High School • Weatherford High School • Arlington Bowie High School • Arlington High School • Arlington Lamar High School • Arlington Martin High School • Arlington Sam Houston High School The new district will apply to football, volleyball, and basketball. Alignments for all other events will be released on the UIL website in the spring of 2026. “This realignment officially moves Granbury into the 6A classification, and we’re excited about the opportunity,” said Granbury ISD Athletics Director Lamont Moore. “We know we’ll be facing some quality programs and outstanding schools, and that’s exactly what helps elevate our student-athletes and our athletic department. These are great locations for our parents and fans to travel, show up, and support our teams, and we look forward to competing across the board in District 3-6A.” UIL realignment occurs every two years and is based on enrollment data provided by school districts across the state. The new district assignments aim to create competitive balance while considering geography and travel for schools. Granbury ISD will begin preparations for the transition to 6A competition over the next two school years, with district play officially beginning in the fall of 2026. As I reflect on an incredible journey at Tarleton State, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the past 5 years. This place is truly special.. a community of passionate people, dedicated athletes, and unwavering support that makes every day feel like home. From the ground up, we’ve poured our hearts into building this program into the powerhouse it is today, creating memories, milestones & relationships that will last a lifetime. A huge thank you to Head Coach Todd Whitten for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of this amazing ride. Your leadership and vision have inspired us all. Tarleton State has shaped me in ways I can’t fully express and for that, I will always be grateful!
