*opinion on the QtCinderella "drama"* When Vanillamace started gaining popularity, I was so excited and absolutely adored her! Finally, a massively popular female creator building something for the girls, for the gays, for everyone who thrives in queer-centered spaces. As someone who values communities like Vanilla’s, where queerness and femininity are central, the bar is much higher for what is acceptable and what is normalized, it just is, because this is how we keep these spaces safe and fun for us. In spaces like Vanilla and Katie’s (and mine too, follow me!), women and LGBTQ+ people don’t have to play a certain role to be accepted, we don’t have to “code switch”... we can just exist. I think Qt is more accustomed to the broader creatorsphere, one still dominated by men, where certain behaviors get brushed off and normalized. It’s not even about FaZe Clan’s bigotry, though their tone-deaf homophobic behavior absolutely causes harm, I really can’t even be bothered to care what they’re doing or that QtCinderella hangs out with them. I'm a grown ass woman and their unfunny homophobic little boy content definitely is not for me... but to each their own! I think what really has rubbed people wrong was seeing someone enter a queer-centered space and try to impose that same male-centric culture of normalization on women and LGBTQ+ folks. Asserting very naive, privileged takes as if the viewers she was addressing… weren’t quite frankly, much more educated on these matters than her. I think that Vanilla choosing to pause collaborations is smart! The creatorsphere can be extremely… fucked up to say the least! I do think we should all take a few steps back, QtCinderella definitely isn’t our enemy… she’s just an ex-mormon! A white woman with a savior complex, once told me *another white woman with a savior complex*...
