I personally spoke with many police officers. Many of them said they had become exhausted working under the Trinamool government and were continuing in their jobs only out of financial necessity. Today, they are happy. Not everyone can be like Ramakrishna Koel. Even so, the injustices committed by some police personnel against ordinary innocent people cannot be undone. At the same time, punishing every one of those officers may not be possible either. Why should Ramakrishna Kayal alone face such punishment? My humble appeal to a BJP government is that his job should be reinstated.

But I have constantly seen many others doing exactly that. I have seen opportunistic and overly ambitious people avoid me. Let them. I have always felt that I would never compromise with misrule. Today, I am happy.

BJP is the only party coming to power in West Bengal without any alliance, contesting all 294 seats independently. While the CPI(M) formed the government in 1977 through the Left Front and the TMC did so in 2011 with Congress support.
