@FromN5_ Forgiveness is yours to give. Reconciliation takes both of you being honest about what actually happened.

@Joyoky1 The red flags aren't even ignored. They're just not as loud as the feeling of finally being seen.

Someone who grew up feeling emotionally unseen usually becomes intensely attached to anyone who values them deeply, overlooking red flags in their desperate pursuit of belonging.

@femiiiszn The cruelest part is it gets handed down as love. Nobody realizes it's already a wound until they're passing it to the next generation.

the whole “i struggled so you should struggle” mindset is why so many families carry on dysfunctional curses.

what exhausted me wasn't the disappointment. it was the constant cycle of hope, disappointment, hope, disappointment.

Woke at 4 a.m. again, the way the body seems to prefer now, and lay there a while before deciding not to be annoyed about it. The body keeps a different schedule in the second half of life. It recovers slower and sleeps lighter, and none of that is failure, just a car with more miles on it. If yours has been sending these memos lately, it isn't betraying you, it's reporting in.

@detachdaily And the worst part is you got so good at it, they stopped noticing it was ever supposed to be shared.

Unfortunately, yes I sure DO give up on people. You can’t continuously disappoint me, distract me, not pour into me & expect me to continue showing up for you. No can do.

For most of my life, giving more than I got back didn't feel like sacrifice. It felt like love. It felt like simply being a decent person. That's the part nobody warns you about. The imbalance doesn't announce itself. There's no single moment where you decide to start emptying yourself out for other people. It happens one reasonable favor at a time, one understandable exception at a time, until the pattern is so old it just looks like your personality. What changes things, eventually, is exhaustion. Not a dramatic collapse, just a quiet running-low you can't explain away anymore. You start doing the math on a few relationships and notice the numbers never really balanced. Here's what I'm still learning, slowly. Giving was never the problem. The problem is the quiet belief that your care only counts if it costs you everything. It doesn't. You're allowed to keep some of yourself and still be kind.

The most expensive habit is needing every emotion resolved before you move. Some days you will work with doubt, show up with insecurity, and make decisions while tired. Life moves faster than emotional clarity. Waiting to feel good before acting keeps you stuck.

@Joyoky1 Took me a while to realize the damage I absorbed wasn't from people being cruel. Most of them were just doing what survival taught them.
