@ManyATrueNerd Yes! It's such an incredible feeling to go back to your first book and realize just how far you've come as a writer. Improvements are gradual, but there and that really puts things into perspective. For a writer, knowing that they have their own prose is such a thrill.

To be clear, back when I did NaNoWriMo, I wrote some shockingly awful dross. But I also got better over the years at finding time to create writing, and at filtering through ideas, and at actually writing fun prose, because I actually put some effort into trying & learning.

Claire & I actually met doing NaNoWriMo. It's genuinely sad to watch them repeatedly make the worst decisions possible, now declaring that, during a writing event designed to encourage imagination & creation, coming up with a vague idea and asking ChatGPT to write it is fine.
