@wayne83591278 This is an AF model, but it has no decocker and was produced in 1988. Decocker was added sometime in the early 90s.

@AutoMagArchive The older ones are way better quality. You can spot them via the "nicer" slide serratiions like that one has. Bonus is they take 3rd gen beretta locking blocks. Alot of them also don't have a decocker, firing pin block and have a steel frame. IIRC the "AF" models have those.

Just watched ''Hard-Boiled'' (1992) and now I feel like getting a PT-92/PT-99. If anyone has any input regarding the 80s/90s production guns specifically, I'd appreciate it (yes it's a Taurus, but I could get it for under $300).

@thefutabomber The original bakelite grips on mine are kind of integral to the charm, so I can't see myself replacing them. I have always been curious about the aftermarket grips with the built-in thumb release tho. If I were going to commit to the Mak as a platform, I would like to try those.

@AutoMagArchive I hated this one with the factory grips cuz they were sharp and hurt to shoot, then the FAB grips were comf but kept dropping mags in carry. Finally i cleaned up all the sharp edges and bad fitment on the factories, and now i love the hell out of it. Never had any bites luckily.

Do makarov haters exist? I can see not liking one, but how could you hate it? In its original context of "we need a boat load of cheap reliable military sidearms" its kinda peak

@ATadDisturbed I like the having both safety functionalities, but this one was older (and cheaper), so I chose it over a newer 90s example they also had.

@Tomschillgaming They're proprietary, but some do have the heel-release cut-out so they can work in all PT-92 regardless of age.

@krus_chiki Can't speak to the shooting experience yet, but it does fit my hand really well and the safety location is convenient. These might be the most slept on retro guns out there, but I'll have to update after my upcoming range session to confirm.
