Arrived in Zhangye and just wrapped up the prep session for tomorrow's 24-hour livestream. This morning, Lihong and I set off from Lanzhou to inspect our battery swap route along the Hexi Corridor. We drove the executive flagship SUV NIO ES9 all the way to Zhangye, swapping along the way and covering 560 km in total.🔋 At one point during the trip, Lihong took over driving while I relaxed in the ES9's second row and watched the NBA game. Plenty of space, very comfortable.😁 On the road, we stopped at a few iconic places: 📍Wuwei Service Area: this is where we built our first expressway battery swap station in Gansu. Huge thanks to our on-duty colleague Yanwen for the amazing work.🙌 📍Shandan Horse Farm: located in the core area of Qilian Mountains ecological protection zone. Thousands of horses here, stunning scenery, and I also got to ride one.🐎 📍Battery Swap Station in Zhangye: our final stop today. This station was built in 2023 after a friendly bet between Lihong and our user Mr. Wu. He said that if we built it, we'd have at least 100 more users here. He was right, and now there're nearly 120 users across NIO, ONVO, and firefly. A hybrid mobility network is the optimal path to kick-start autonomous driving, according to Zhang Bo, CEO of DiDi Autonomous Driving. Zhang spoke at the 2026 Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development Forum in Beijing today, where he emphasized in a keynote speech that safety and user experience form the foundation of autonomous driving.
