First @CHVRCHES gig since 2023 🥲! Just a beautiful day yesterday hanging out with old friends and new and then getting to watch the band support @MBVofficial at @RoyalAlbertHall as part of a series of shows curated by @RobertSmith to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust (@TeenageCancer). CHVRCHES only had time for 7 songs, but wow did they make them count. In what was billed as a “stripped back” set (no drums), the band gave us 3 live debuts: Nightmares and Lullabies from Screen Violence, plus a new song called “Conman” that will be on their hopefully-soon-to-be-announced 5th studio album! Even familiar songs were given new sonic twists in this stripped-back set-up (a more industrial version of How Not To Drown for instance). On the whole, after 2.5+ years without a CHVRCHES show, it felt like a fire hose of fresh experience being turned on in the best way possible. The set started with Asking For A Friend, and seeing Lauren, Martin, Iain, and Jonny up there together again felt like an answer to the question that ends the song. New and improved home, I think. On Tuesday night, I got to see Belle Blue headline at @MercuryLoungeNY. Loved the ‘90s alt rock vibes, and Belle’s stage presence and charisma were off the charts, especially considering she’s only 16 (!) years old. Back on January 31, I got to attend the album release show for Wormy’s great album Shark River at Union Pool in Brooklyn. Noah (Wormy) is such a creative songwriter and artist, and both of his albums have ended up in heavy rotation for me (Give Up and Big Mountain are among my favorite songs of his). In addition to his own project, he also drums for @samiatheband, Willow Avalon, and Hut, and is a member of Oil (who, if my math is right, are about due for another historic show). Just a super-talented guy, and also one of the nicest and most thoughtful artists I’ve met going to shows. The album release show was one of my favorite gigs of the year so far and featured perfect vibes, a great backing band, and many special guests. Here’s a clip of @carterxfaith performing Six String on Friday night at 7th St Entry in Minneapolis! She said during the show that it’s her favorite song off her debut album, Cherry Valley, and it might be mine too! It was great getting to see Carter perform in such an intimate venue. She’s opening for @PostMalone at a bunch of stadium shows this spring/summer, and I’m sure her headline shows are going to get bigger very quickly too! #carterfaith #postmalone

I had previously seen Keni Titus as a support act (for @beabad00bee) a couple of times in Central Park in 2024, but last night at @TheEchoLA was my first time seeing her as a headliner. I’ve been loving her recently released debut album, AngelPink, so I was really excited for last night, and the show still exceeded my expectations. I’ve loved Keni’s voice since the first time I heard her sing, and the set last night never felt like it had a slow moment, even featuring a cover of Fearless for the Swifties in the crowd (based on the singing along, everyone). Last week, I got to see three of @erinlecount’s La Lune Tour shows—two shows at @BabysAllRight in Brooklyn and the tour closer on Friday night at @theroxy in LA.
