For the handful of people who Like me, do you think I should use my new .com or my new .vip domain name? I think .vip is cooler, but .com is easy and familiar. (The two names are similar, not the same, so it's not a 100% equal comparison.)

@MissLoreleiLee So exciting! I'm sure you've been asked to write a book a million times, so this is great news! Yours is one memoir that's very needed. If you're up for the abuse, getting some haters to read it, then rant about it online will boost your sales like crazy.

If I'm lucky, my book will come out next year. Called Anything of Value, it looks at SW & trafficking through memoir, history, & political/cultural criticism. It's still a ways away, but am having a momentary panic. Will anyone read it?

@PlayBackPr13326 @J3ssicaStarling They don't want to pay, that's one of their defining features. But there are plenty who do see sex workers professionally for a while, then decide to go this route. They overlap with the Captain Save-a-hoe types, though the save-a-hoes have different motivations.

Proposing the idea of “sex worker chasers”. ie, men who fetishize SWers and continually pursue often predatory relationships with them. Because that is absolutely A Thing

@reinahendrixxx And money! Don't forget that these women get well-paid for their views in the form of grants and fund-raising and titled jobs. Sex workers do not. Sometimes an org will get lucky with a small government grant, but most orgs are self-funded by sex workers.

if you watch debates of sex workers' rights advocates vs radical feminists, you see who really cares about safety of the most targeted and who actually wants to uphold the system for their own agendas.

@tinybunnydemon_ Sex work is entirely consent-based, otherwise it's trafficking (zero consent). Just like any job. If you take away consent, it's slavery (or trafficking).

Since I'm racking up quite a track record of retweeting AI posts and/or questionable people/sources, going to slow down here. My original thoughts are over on Threads. I like the calmer atmosphere, and everything about it. Haven't tested photo-posting there, yet. Maybe I will.

@reinahendrixxx Something these feminists never seem to take into account is gay porn, or BDSM porn in which the males are submissive (or even gay BDSM porn). That's a huge category that turns everything they say on its head. Porn does treat women like objects, but it does the same to men.

"According to radical feminist theory, pornography serves to further the subordination of women by training its users, males and females alike, to view women as little more than sex objects over whom men should have complete control. Composite variables from the General Social Survey were used to test the hypothesis that pornography users would hold attitudes that were more supportive of gender nonegalitarianism than nonusers of pornography. Results did not support hypotheses derived from radical feminist theory." researchgate.net/publication/28…

@702ValetParker Who on earth is doing monthly photoshoots, or multiple ones, if they're not also selling content? Even a simple hotel + lingerie shoot is hours and hours of prep and post work, even if you're not the photographer. (If you *are* the photographer, add days of work.)

What NOT to Do as a Newbie SWer: A Satirical Guide Inspired by “Seasoned” Advice So you’ve stumbled upon a “seasoned provider’s” advice blog, filled with outdated Reddit reposts or questionable wisdom, and now you’re wondering if you need to max out your credit cards on botox, shoot Vogue-level photos every month, and declare war on mentorship programs. Don’t worry—I’ve got you covered with practical, real-world advice sprinkled with sarcasm (because who doesn’t love a little sass?) to save you from falling into that trap. Welcome to the industry—minus the gatekeeping and fluff. Let’s dissect the nonsense, shall we? 1. Don’t Dismiss Mentorship While Acting Like a Mentor What She Said: “Sex work mentorship is gross.” Reality Check: Calling it gross because some providers who are actually successful & seasoned choose to charge for their time while doing it yourself isn’t just hypocritical—it’s a masterclass in self-owning. Particularly when the advice you’re giving is terrible. If you’re going to offer free advice, own it and recognize the value in helping others. Gatekeeping doesn’t help anyone. Mentorship & sharing knowledge are about building the community, not tearing it down with a superiority complex. 2. Don’t Blow Your Budget on Monthly Photoshoots What She Said: “I know some providers who do a new shoot every month. And they're super viral on socials, booking more clients because of it.” Reality Check: No, you don’t need to do this unless you’re trying to compete with the Kardashians. One high-quality shoot can last you months—just change up your captions and rotate your pics. Save your money for actual necessities, like advertising, rent, or, I don’t know, eating. If you’re broke, platforms like Humaniplex thrive on selfies, so no fancy photo investments are required. 3. Budget-Friendly Platforms: Quick Cash Options And Local Established Agencies What She Doesn’t Address: An established local agency or platforms like Humaniplex are solid for survival SWers who need to stack cash fast. Here’s the breakdown: If you’re a survival SWer who needs cash ASAP, agencies can be a lifeline. Yes, the split sucks (hello, 50/50), but they have an established client base, handle advertising, and often cover or split hotel costs. Some will even pay for a generic photoshoot for advertising. As the “new girl,” you’ll get plenty of bookings just because you’re new. Pro Tip: Use a different name than your future independent persona. Stack that cash, build your own clientele on the side, and move on when you’re ready. Agencies are a short-term fix, not a long-term plan. If agencies aren’t your thing, consider platforms like Humaniplex (popular in states like CA, NV, FL, NY). Here’s the deal: Rates are lower ($250-$300/hour max). Clients prefer “menus” (e.g., $75 for 15 minutes, $150 for 30 minutes). Reality Check: It’s not glamorous, but it’s consistent, and you can use it to keep your bills paid. Use a different name to protect your brand if you’re building a higher-end persona. 4. Photos: Start Simple, Stay Smart, and Scale Up What She Said: “Invest in multiple photoshoots every month to keep your image fresh.” If you’re broke, skip the $1,000 shoots for now. Sites like Humaniplex are perfectly fine with selfies, and platforms like Model Mayhem are great for finding photographers who’ll trade portfolio shots for free. Start small: one solid photoshoot can last for months or even years if you’re smart about rotating photos, adding fresh captions, and using creative cropping. When you’re ready, save a little from each booking to invest in a professional shoot (in the $500-$2,500 range). Remember, confidence & posing matter far more than expensive lingerie. You can slay in a $20 Target outfit or Temu just as hard as you can in designer La Perla. Reality Check: Successful providers rarely have the time—or need—for elaborate monthly photoshoots. Constantly investing in new shoots not only drains your finances but can also

Basically, Ents exist. The oldest trees are the shepherds of their forests.
Massimo@Rainmaker1973

In the 1990s, Canadian ecologist Suzanne Simard made a groundbreaking discovery that challenged everything we thought we knew about how forests work. While studying managed forests in British Columbia, she noticed something puzzling: when birch trees were removed to promote the growth of valuable Douglas firs, the firs did not flourish as expected — they actually struggled and grew more slowly. Determined to understand why, Simard traced the movement of nutrients using radioactive carbon isotopes. What she found was astonishing. Trees were actively sharing resources through vast underground fungal networks known as mycorrhizae. These delicate, thread-like fungi connect the roots of different trees across the forest floor, forming a complex web that allows the exchange of carbon, water, nutrients, and even chemical signals — sometimes between entirely different species. She discovered that older, larger trees often serve as central "hubs" or "mother trees," supporting younger saplings by redistributing vital resources and helping the entire ecosystem remain resilient. When these key trees are removed, the underground network weakens, and the health of the remaining forest declines. Simard’s research overturned the traditional Darwinian view of forests as battlegrounds of ruthless competition. Instead, she revealed a far more sophisticated reality: forests operate as highly cooperative systems where trees communicate, support one another, and even warn neighboring trees about threats like drought, disease, or insect attacks. What appears to the human eye as a silent, still forest is, in truth, a vibrant, interconnected living network — built not on isolation and rivalry, but on deep connection and mutual aid.

I see a lot of my SW friends sharing this because it seems like an act of solidarity from the museum. Unfortunately, this “museum” is a fraud and its owner has been convicted of possession of child porn and solicitation of minors. The museum itself doesn’t even exist - they’ve been collecting donations since 2012 for a museum that still has not opened because not only have they failed, for over a decade, to secure the proper permits for their building, they’ve been served with cease and desists from the companies whose properties they claim to represent for not actually having the rights to display their props and set pieces for profit. Not every “ally” is a blessing. Huston Huddleston, the pedo, has been trying to hide his involvement with the organization for years, while still being very much at the helm. I cannot say that that isn’t still the case. I encourage you all to read this article. latimes.com/entertainment-…

Someone complained because we reposted a photo of someone who does porn, who gave us a donation at WonderCon, and sat on our Star Trek set. We didn't know, and quite frankly, we don't care. Our very first donor in 2012 was a pornstar. We wouldn't exist had it not been for her.

I wish there was an appropriate sex education book for teens. I feel like given that I’m a swer some people might think I’m weird for saying this but when I heard the controversy about “Let’s Talk About It” I decided to buy it and give it a look. The only thing that book does well is talk about consent. Other than that a lot of things felt like grooming. Rather than tell teens they should absolutely not take naked photos of themselves to share, there’s a section about how to do it so your still somewhat anonymous, there’s a little comic in there where it’s supposed to be middle schoolers talking and they’re talking about porno’s and one of them is like what’s porn? And their other two kids are shocked they’ve never seen it. Overall it disgusted me and I was horrified it was supposed to be for all ages. And I believe there’s a section on there about getting online and finding communities to be a part of if you’re interested in kink and don’t feel comfortable talking to a parent. That one may have been another problematic book but I’m fairly certain it’s in the same one.

A wonderful stance to take. Sci-fi is full of sex workers in various roles in future settings, whether dystopian or idealized. One of the enduring themes of sci-fi is the intersection of tech, sex, and holding onto one's humanity throughout these changes.

@reinahendrixxx That's because we actually know what's going on in our industry, and how it works, because we're actually doing the work. They have no idea how the industry works. They'd never deign to do real sex work because they're morality police disguised as social activists.
