McCarthy is brilliant but in trying cast his stories in a biblical scale he is working against what English was designed for and does best, a language evolved specifically to convey vivid interiority and granular specificity. That's why I'll always choose TWBB over No Country.

Every few months, I revisit the No Country vs There Will Be Blood debate. Both are obviously masterpieces, but I've landed on this: No Country is the better film because it is more restrained and precise. TWBB is a strange cinematic opera, No Country is a classical sculpture.
