@deltaIV9250 We’re probably getting expandable and reusable numbers mixed up.

It is kind of weird how starship V1’s payload changed so much lol. In 2024 Elon said the IFt-3 stack could do 40-50 tons to orbit. Then in 2025 SpaceX says V1 could only do 15 tons. But independent studies in 2026 say that V1 could do ~50 tons. What’s happening here lol

@AverageV0yager @ThePrimalDino @roverengineer That's not "high speed" unless you're comparing DSL to Dial-up. If the same thing happened to the booster, shouldn't they have figured out how to not explode? I can understand testing functionality of an incomplete product to speed up design corrections, but...

@Catgineering @ThePrimalDino @roverengineer I mean when it tips over, the speed it gains is what ruptures it. And the reason they are planning it to “fail” is because they are testing it out before they move forward and make progress, the exact same thing happened to the booster where it started doing water landings first.

@AverageV0yager @ThePrimalDino @roverengineer It didn't hit the water at high speeds. It slowed to a potential landing speed, then tipped over onto the water as a "landing". The temperature difference of the rocket hitting the water would be what you're thinking about. Why plan it to fail instead of planning to succeed?

@Catgineering @ThePrimalDino @roverengineer That’s what’s happens when a 50 meter tall 4mm thin tank hits water at high speeds yes. The fact that it happens every single time on both the booster and ship is why it’s expected. They aren’t celebrating the expected explosion it’s the landing.

@AverageV0yager @ThePrimalDino @roverengineer I understood their excitement until they cheered hardest for it exploding. I work in the space industry, and outside of SpaceX, we don't get excited for things failing, even if expected.
