There will be many cricket fans — perhaps those who predominately watch international and franchise cricket — for whom today is just another day: a chilly, damp day in very early April. But to those of us lucky enough to be county cricket devotees — those of us who chose the red pill — today is a momentous, long looked for day. That first ball, when it’s bowled, will carry the weight of our anticipation. When the bell rings and players clad in white step over the boundary rope once more, we’ll be ready to see heroes rise, fortunes falter and for every run and wicket to be set down in the quiet ledger of the season. The sky may be a little uncertain today, but it is full of promise! Have a truly marvellous season everyone!!!
