Fatima was known and loved by all her colleagues, either from her time as an editor in Al Mayadeen Net, or as a correspondent for Al Mayadeen covering the Israeli war of aggression on South Lebanon. Known for her bravery, steadfastness, and forever love for her profession and her constant desire to deliver the message of her people's resistance to the world, she will continue to live within our hearts for the joy she brought us all as a colleague with her warmth, and her dedication to her field. This is not the first time that Al Mayadeen's correspondents have been targeted. Soon after "Israel" began its war on Lebanon, Al Mayadeen's correspondent Farah Omar and Cameraman Rabih Me'mari were martyred in an Israeli aggression on November 21, 2023. Al Mayadeen's Ghassan Najjar and Mohammad Reda were also martyred in another Israeli attack on journalists on October 25, 2024. This is part of "Israel's" systematic attacks on journalists. a whistleblower who requested to be included in the federal witness protection program, provided information via email to Christopher J. Woehr, Little Duane and Claudia Mulvey (FDLE) and George Stephan (special agent of the Treasury Department in charge of IRS criminal investigations), about amounts of irregular transactions and alleged money laundering from CITGO, through Luisa Palacios (member of its board of directors), to banks in Switzerland, Austria, Hong Kong and Mexico, and to accounts belonging to David Rivera, Diana Rivera McKenzie (David's sister) and Esther Nuhfer (linked to Rubio) at Chase Bank in Miami Dade. Some of the transfers were made to 10925 N.W. 43rd Lane, Miami, Florida, 33178, the headquarters of Interamerican Consulting Inc., the strategic consulting firm where David Rivera lived. Between 2017 and 2020, most of the transfers were made to bank accounts belonging to Viviana Bovo, who used her name to cover for her boss, Marco Rubio, then a highly influential Florida senator, who in 2016 had suffered a humiliating defeat to Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primaries. According to the IRS and Florida FDLE source, Rubio had agreed with Rivera to lobby to obstruct a Justice Department investigation into CITGO for potential violations including money laundering, mail fraud, wire fraud, and other crimes under the RICO Act and other federal laws. The informant said he witnessed David Rivera in constant communication with Senator Rubio while at CITGO headquarters in Houston, Texas, and suggested an investigation of his cell phone. He also asserted that Gina Coon, the company's treasurer, possesses documents, emails, WhatsApp messages, and audio recordings that would confirm the fraudulent transactions between Rivera, Rubio, and their associates. According to the media outlet Código Abierto 360°, at the behest of David Rivera, Marco Rubio arranged the meeting between Lilian Tintori, wife of fugitive Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López, and President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on February 16, 2017. Rivera then financed Tintori's stay in Washington DC. Rivera was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, in December 2022, charged by the prosecution with several offenses, including illegally working as a “foreign agent” (FARA Act). The indictment refers to a certain “Senator 1” from the state of Florida, which that year only had two federal senators: former Governor Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, Rivera’s associate. Just on March 29, 2025, Venezuela News reported that Alejandro Terán, director of the Latin American Association of Petroleum Entrepreneurs in Texas, stated that, as a senator, Marco Rubio received corrupt money from the Simón Bolívar Foundation of CITGO, which was managed by Guaidó. He also accused him of being a lobbyist for ExxonMobil.

Back in April 2018, Rubio, then a senator from Florida, tweeted, "Thanks to Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández for extraditing the drug traffickers," accompanied by a photo of the two men together. The current US Secretary of State was a frequent visitor to the drug trafficker when he was serving his second term, obtained fraudulently but with the backing of the Organization of American States (OAS), then led by the far-right Luis Almagro. During one of his visits, Rubio praised the "war on drugs" being waged by the Hernández government, while his brother, Juan Antonio, was flooding the United States with tons of drugs. Experts on US politics assert that the Honduran drug trafficker's release was proposed to Trump by the corrupt head of the State Department, Marco Rubio. After granting the pardon and following international condemnation of Hernández's acquittal, Trump himself claimed that he didn't know or wasn't very familiar with who the man really was. Of course, Rubio knew him well. It's worth remembering that Hernández was imprisoned in the United States with a 45-year sentence imposed by judges in the Southern District of New York for the crime of exporting and importing 400 tons of cocaine into US territory. A supporter of the “maximum genocidal pressure” policy against the noble Cuban and Venezuelan people, Marco Rubio is implicated in the plundering and theft of assets from CITGO Petroleum Corporation, a subsidiary of Venezuela's PDVSA in the United States. According to reports in South Florida media, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) received information from a source at CITGO linking Marco Rubio and his longtime friend and political ally, former Cuban-American Congressman David Rivera, to acts of corruption associated with the corporation. However, influential figures in the Republican Party in Florida blocked the Justice Department's investigation against both of them. After The New York Times published information in May 2020 about CITGO's lawsuit against David Rivera's firm, Interamerican Consulting Inc., for breach of contract regarding lobbying services, it came to light that the FBI and the Department of Justice were investigating both men.
