Life Beyond Trading
Every trader reaches a moment when they have to ask themselves: What am I really chasing?
At first, the answer seems obvious: freedom. The ability to live life on your terms, to escape the grind, to never stress about money again. But somewhere along the way, the goal shifts. The number you once dreamed of no longer feels enough. The game becomes bigger, the targets move further, and before you realize it, you’re no longer playing for freedom. You’re just playing.
And that’s where the trap is set.
The Cycle That Never Ends
The life of a trader, if left unchecked, is a slow erosion of time and self. Days blend together in a loop of charts, wallets, Twitter feeds, and refresh buttons. Every flicker of price movement triggers either a dopamine hit or a spiral of regret. And because the goal is always more, no decision ever feels right.
Why did I sell? Why didn’t I sell? Why didn’t I buy? Why did I buy?
Your wins feel fleeting, your losses linger, and even when you finally get what you wanted, you’re already thinking about the next move. The screen dictates your emotions, your pace, your sense of self. And worst of all? The rest of the world keeps moving without you.
You tell yourself you’ll start living once you hit a certain number. But that number is a mirage, it keeps shifting further into the distance, keeping you locked in pursuit of something you were never meant to catch.
And that’s the saddest part. Not the stress, not the addiction, not the sleepless nights...t's the waste. The waste of time, of health, of moments you can never get back.
You Already Won—So Why Are You Still Playing?
There is a point where enough should be enough. And let me tell you: the first time you feel true financial freedom is one of the most profound moments in life. The first time you realize you don’t have to check your bank balance before booking a flight. The first time you order food without looking at the prices. The first time you realize money no longer controls you. That is the victory.
Everything beyond that? Marginal gains.
Numbers on a screen that do nothing but pull you deeper into a game that was only supposed to be a means to an end.
And this is coming from someone who has seen real wealth. The upside isn’t worth it, not if it comes at the cost of the very things that make life worth living. Love. Friendships. Adventure. The feeling of standing in a place you’ve never been before, hearing a song that moves you, laughing with friends, cuddling your wifey.
You don’t need more. You need to live.
The Thought That Changed Everything
One day, while meditating, I had a thought that changed my entire perspective on life:
What if, in another realm, I paid an unimaginable price just for the chance to experience life on Earth?
What if, in that other world, I couldn’t feel life the way we do here? No taste, no touch, no love, no pain....just existence, cold and weightless. What if I had given up everything just to come here, to know what it’s like to wake up to a blue sky, to hear laughter, to run, to love, to be human?
And then I imagined dying, returning to that other world, and realizing....I wasted it.
I spent my one shot glued to screens, chasing numbers, refreshing pages, living for a game that never gave me anything real in return.
That thought changed everything for me.
I hope it does for you too.
Hit your freedom number, then go live.
