What a disastrous start for Wilfried Nancy — that’s now 4 straight losses at Celtic with rumors that he could be out. Columbus might even have a chance to hire him back before they’ve found a new coach. Genuinely feel for him, a lot of factors at play— including a really tough schedule of games at the beginning. He’s proven himself as an excellent coach in MLS and great at developing players— but the European pressures at a club like Celtic, demand winning from the off. I hope he gets more time to get his fingerprints on the team, but unfortunately I don’t think he will. He’s been a too naive in how quickly he thought he could implement his style of play and get wins— for which he might pay the price.

In 2014 against Belgium & Germany, everyone and their mother said “we’ve got to be better with the ball in those types of games.” No argument from me. It’s the next stage of progression. In the 2022 World Cup, 2024 Copa America & 2025 Gold Cup, has the #USMNT gotten better with the ball?! Why are we still talking about “effort, commitment, passion”?! Now I’d argue you can’t bridge the gap in less than a year so for the team to be successful they have to be very committed in their defensive shape and play for transitional moments. Can this group do that?!

Some of the broadcaster/fifa approach to the crowd size is silly. DAZN just said “it doesn’t look like there’s a free seat in the house” after showing a lot of available seats. Just be honest and say it’s going to be a strong crowd but not a sell out.
