Avon Lake City Schools will be closed on Monday, February 16th, for President's Day.

Sunday, Feb. 15, is National School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day. The Avon Lake City Schools are grateful for the daily work of our SROs to maintain a safe and welcoming school environment! THANK YOU!

Due to wind chill temperatures forecasted by the National Weather Service for tomorrow morning, Avon Lake City Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 28th. The district intends to move forward with after-school activities scheduled for tomorrow evening.

All after-school events and practices are canceled for today, Mon., January 26. All Avon Lake City Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tues., January 27 due to the Extreme Cold Warning issued by the NWS. A decision about after-school events for Tuesday will be made tomorrow.

If weather conditions permit our staff to clear district parking lots and sidewalks in a timely manner, practices and after-school activities will proceed as scheduled. Please stay tuned for another message to confirm the status of after-school activities on Monday, January 26th.

Avon Lake City Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to weather and road conditions. All after school activities for tomorrow are currently canceled to provide district staff sufficient time to clear parking lots and sidewalks.

Due to the state of emergency issued for all of Ohio, all ALCS buildings will be closed beginning Saturday, January 24th at 8 p.m. through the remainder of the weekend. All rec league events scheduled for this evening and Sunday will be canceled.

**Evening Events Update for Thursday, January 15, 2026** Due to continued inclement weather conditions, all events at ALCS buildings are canceled this evening.

Due to the current weather conditions and predicted weather conditions for tomorrow, Avon Lake City Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 15th. An updated message will be sent out to families to confirm if evening events and out of town trips will continue as scheduled.

All after school activities at Learwood and Avon Lake High School will proceed as scheduled.

ALCS is currently aware of some families not receiving a phone and/or text alert related to today's school closure due to the inclement weather. The district has contacted the support team of PowerSchool to resolve the issue and will share an update in the near future.
