CS2 thoughts so far: TLDR: game isn’t ready to pro play. Lots of bugs, poor optimization, everything feels off. My experience so far has been a 4/10. 1) movement feels very off. Bhopping is less consistent than 64-tick in GO. 2) there’s something wrong with utility. 35% of the time nades don’t feel like they’re going where they should be or would be in GO. 3) a lot of unexplainable bugs. Unfixable gun model shaking which has something to do with resolution changing, graffiti overlay getting stuck on screen even without it being bound, sound volume being inconsistently loud or quiet and difficult to pinpoint. 4) the updated map graphics are beautiful but too much but a part of me doesn’t like how much there is going on visually. Feels hard to focus or pick out enemies in some common positions. 5) smoke feel slightly too short. Sometime I can see over them when I feel like I shouldn’t be able to. 6) no one ways is amazing. 7) smokes only put out mollies on the spots they bloom. Mollys can still burn on edges of smokes if thrown too far onto one side. Not sure if I like it or not. 8) mr12 so far has been fun casually. Economy doesn’t feel as shit as I though but CT could still use some help there. I don’t think more serious players are going to enjoy it and I don’t think it’s ready for pro CS (especially the major). 9) lower resolutions feel worse and look much blurrier (regardless of graphics settings) than in GO and playing on higher resolutions I feel noticeable input delay that I don’t get in GO. 10) the netcode feels very off in a really weird way. The best I can describe it is I feel like my game is always playing catch-up to what’s actually happening even when I have 2 ping. I get a weird feeling often that I’ll do something like shoot at an enemy or throw a nade and even though it’ll happen on my screen, it’s almost like my game is rewinding time when I get killed because the server is choosing the enemies action over mine. Sort of like bad hit registration but slightly different. 11) the new buy menu mega fucks with my muscle memory. Sawed-off and bizon are where the old util tab used to be on the radial menu. I like being able to sell back misbuys. I’ve had to use that feature a lot already lol 12) I HATE the updated UI. Nothing feels like it’s in the right place. I feel like I need to struggle to find my money, HP, or remaining ammo. Looking for those HUD elements feels like a chore and it shouldn’t at all. 13) some of the sounds feel goofy. Not sure how to explain it but hit sounds seem “squishy”. Not a fan. 14) game seems poorly optimized. Even on low res and low settings, my fps drops are noticeable. The game doesn’t seem like something I should be getting consistent input delay and fps drops in. Specs: 5950x @ 4.1 + 3080 + 32 GB ram + m.2 ssd As the make changes and I play more I’ll update my thoughts or add new ones. This is my completely honest take on the game so far.
