Métal Hurlant's English translation, Heavy Metal, was a major influence on #Warhammer and #WH40K.
Philippe Druillet@iamdruillet
In 1974, I co-founded Métal Hurlant together with Moebius, Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Bernard Farkas 🚀 it was a dream come true. It became a beacon for sci-fi and fantasy art. Proud to be part of such a revolutionary movement

@JordanSorcery @LewisKernow I might, too, though I won't be able to soon, as I'm tied up with other things for now. Thanks!

Work on #WH40K's second edition started as early as June 1989, as this letter from Andy Warwick shows.
The game would not be published until 1993.

English

@LewisKernow In answer to your question, I enjoyed listening to Dark Future more than Warhammer or 40K. But I might just be in a minority.

@JordanSorcery To clarify: the recipient of the letter is my source; the writer of the letter is Andy Warwick, who had the title Editorial Assistant at the time. I believe Andy was working for Simon Forrest, who was the Studio's Editorial Manager then.
English

@JordanSorcery The letter is dated 15 June 1989, if you want to be precise.
English

@JordanSorcery It's from an external writer for GW, who asked to remain anonymous.
English

@AwesomeLiesBlog This is very interesting, could you share the source of the letter?

I knew @ian_livingstone and @stevejacksonuk used names from their trip to Thailand in #FightingFantasy books, but I hadn't realised Suk(h)umvit was one of them.
(It's a district of Bangkok.)

My latest interview is with Tim Pollard, a veteran of 80/90s #GamesWorkshop who not only commissioned art and published the Black Sun newsletter, but also got paid rent by John Blanche & David Gallagher in original art!
This one has some real fun stories!
