@Awmapai @manLikeKLU Am telling you that you guys have even the basics of Laboratory We also have fellowship programs So if you don’t have basic laboratory knowledge what makes you think the fellowship makes you better because we also have fellowship program

This is the current training curricular of a Physician (Medical Doctor) in deep red and that of Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science in orange at Uhas. Please kindly go through each course and tell me who is best trained to run the Laboratory. You can't abandon what you don't like after so many years to run up to a 3 year program at your college (physicians and surgeons) and claim I was here before, so I want to come back and take back headship. Health practice is not an inheritance, now all healthcare professionals have evolved and are creating their path to the top, please physicians don't be a hindrance to the development of other cadres. How will you guys feel if I say 50% of physicians prescriptions to patients are wrong and some patients have lost their lives through wrong prescription hence, doctors of pharmacy should go and sit beside you guys in the consulting room to review all prescription prescribed by you guys. It will happen soon and there is nothing you guys can do about it. You guys should humble yourselves the days of Medical imperialism is over. Today the doctor of Medical laboratory science undertake a 6 yrs program like you and follow up to specialized for another 5 years to become a specialist while per your current curricular jump from no where to set up a 3 years fellowship program in laboratory medicine. The doctor of medical laboratory science is better trained than you when it comes to laboratory services operations. Humble Yourselves!!!

@manLikeKLU @PJosaiah Let’s make comparisons on the postgraduate training of both groups (I am not saying one is better) so that there is clarity. The comparison should be made with subcategories such as HEMATOLOGY, PATHOLOGY etc and let us all decide for ourselves.

@PJosaiah Nowhere have I criticised your course content. You are making comparison and I have shown you where to look so you can make an informed comparisons. While at it, remember to differentiate postgraduate training from undergraduate. Thank you

@PJosaiah Why don’t you post the “3 year program at physicians and surgeons” that will help all of us make a better comparison. Those claiming they want to be “HEAD” is because of that curriculum, isn’t that so.

I studied this profession for 6yrs. By second year, I was already staining slides and learning how to interpret blood films for disorders and cancers. I know these conditions like a kid eats up candy. your 2yrs top-up you want come use Validate my Results and be in charge?

From the posture of the Lab Physicians, they seem to suggest that only Lab physicians can head a laboratory. They also seem to suggest only a lab physician can validate results, that’s a condescending posture and will definitely elicit a pushback from the Lab scientists.

@DRKAP23 @KobenaLutterodt I have been saying this same thing all day. There is no reputable diagnostic institution I have seen that doesn’t have a lab physician as lead. I stand to be corrected though. Roles need to be clearly defined in Ghana. 🇬🇭

What is this madness of medical doctors in Ghana requesting that lab results must be reviewed and validated by them before being released ? If medical doctors want to validate or review lab results before release, then they should first earn a degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) and sit for the same licensure exams as medical lab scientists. Medical training does not automatically qualify anyone to interpret raw diagnostic data, that’s the reserve of MLS professionals. MBBS qualifies them to treat and manage patients, not to override laboratory experts. Stay in your lane or go back to school for MLS!

@eltonjonest @precious_achana Your 2/3yrs specialization doesn't place you above someone who's studied it for 6 or more years. It's ridiculous Per your logic if a lab scientist should specialise in Pharmacology or Toxicology he can practice Pharmacy You don't have legal jurisdictions to work in the lab.

Announcement. Dear Ghanaians. Medical doctors at korlebu teaching hospital will be embarking on an industrial action (strike ) from 2nd May onwards. Reason for strike : Medical Doctors want to work in the Medical laboratory at korlebu.

@Dr_Digits Act 857 (2013) is clear: Medical Laboratory Science is regulated independently under Part One of Act 857 by the Allied Health Professions Council Doctors/Medicine are regulated separately under Part Two The law grants no supervisory authority to any other profession over MLS

We all know what we are doing It will all make sense the day the pathologist will be locked out of the mortuary by the mortician
