@NewTimesRwanda @BRDbank She forgot about inflation. If current bonds are 12%, and inflation is 8% then you are only really making 4% before tax.

March 2026 numbers are in.
Net worth grew by 3.84%.
The broader stock market took a beating; painful to watch, but it let me load up on quality assets at a discount.
Real estate carried the month, delivering the bulk of the gains. Solid reminder that a diversified portfolio still wins.
With the Iran war dragging on, April feels uncertain for stocks. My plan? Stay disciplined, stick to the strategy, and keep buying the dips. No panic moves here.
Big personal win: I hit another major net worth milestone this month; one I’ve been chasing for the last 7 years. Feels incredible.
Reward incoming: treating myself to a physical gold bar to celebrate. Something tangible to mark the grind.
On to April. Let’s keep compounding.

February 2026 numbers are in. Net worth grew by 2.82%. My US investments did not perform well, Canadian investments carried the month. I also sold some stocks to reallocate capital into another highly profitable, short term opportunity. With the USA, Israel, and Iran war, I am uncertain how US investments will perform in March, but I am staying the course and not changing strategy. On to March.

@RUGERAW Yeah, mainly indices. My day-to-day is mostly in tech, but I wouldn’t say I understand tech stocks down to individual companies, hence why I just buy index funds.
English

@RUGERAW I do many things but apart from my business, I mainly do stocks and real estate.
English

@RUGERAW I hit a financial milestone last month, so I'm rewarding myself with a small gold bar 😂
English

@RUGERAW Yeah, I see some people making money with metals. For me, it's just a reward, not an investment at the moment.

If you’re in the diaspora investing in Rwanda, here’s the math you need:
Target 40–50%+ returns in Rwandan francs or walk away.
Why?
•Inflation: ~8%
•Currency depreciation (vs USD): ~6%
•Leakage/friction: ~6%
Total drag ≈ 20%
What that actually means in USD:
•20% in francs → ~0% USD
•30% in francs → ~12% USD
•40% in francs → ~20% USD
•50% in francs → ~30% USD
Reality check:
The S&P 500 delivers ~8–10% USD with full liquidity and no headaches.
So in Rwanda:
•30% → not enough
•40% → bare minimum
•50%+ → strong deal
Anything below ~40% in local currency?
Reject it.

“Good” is relative.
A family of 5 in Rwanda making 3M/month is doing fine. But if they have the option to move to the U.S., they should take it.
Better education, stronger opportunities, easier access to capital, a stronger passport, and the largest economy in the world.
You trade ~3–5 years of struggle for decades of upside.
It’s a risk–reward decision. In some cases, staying makes sense.
But the real benchmark isn’t “doing good.” It’s mindset. If you’re driven, capable, and hungry for more, moving is the best option in most cases.
In economies like the U.S., the return on your effort is significantly higher.
English

@AxeWell_ Which brings us back to my first point. If you got some thing good going for you in your home country, you shouldn’t immigrate. Live life for you
English

If you got something good going on for you at home, there’s absolutely no reason to go abroad. The grass is not always greener.

@mucyofloris It's just the nature of settling in a new country/new system. All immigrants go through the same struggle, whether from Rwanda, Japan, or Ukraine. Obviously some people get lucky and become successful in other ways, but the majority go through the same thing.

@lifeofthebob This looks like an ideal scenario they are building towards or something like that.

@TheBrilliantBu1 I think you should try not to care too much about X or social media in general.
