In Axiom Maths last week... students worked in pairs on the Sum-One Wins challenge — spotting patterns, testing ideas and uncovering hidden connections between numbers. Through lively discussion, students explained their thinking, challenged each other and represented their ideas using networks. Introducing the Axiom Maths enrichment programme! In the first term of the new year, Axiom mathematicians have been busy with rich problem-solving! This week’s maths auction focused on optimal solution: thinking about constraints, comparing strategies, and justifying why answers couldn’t be improved. We often hear people say that in the age of AI you no longer need to be good at maths, you just need social skills. This analysis shows that’s wrong - you need both! Mathematics is becoming ever more important as the opportunities from new technology get bigger. And the greatest value sits with people who can not only “do” the maths, but explain it and collaborate. This is what pupils learn in Axiom Maths circles. Maths gives you the edge: not just because of what you know, but because of how you use it.

✨ New case study! At The Market Weighton school in rural Yorkshire, limited buses home can make after-school clubs a challenge for many pupils. So the school tried something different: timetabled maths circles. The result? Almost 100% attendance each week. 🎓 Maths circles are thriving in routine and at the start of every session, the group proudly say: “We’re a maths circle and we think like university mathematicians.” 🔗 You can read the full case study on our website linked below.
