Ruben Amorim wanted Ollie Watkins, btw. I know the club opted for Sesko when Aston Villa confirmed they weren’t selling. Ruben Amorim also wanted Emi Martinez, who’s better than Lammens but the club considered £50m a high asking price and opted for Lammens. This is just to tell you what Ruben Amorim wanted for this club. It was clear his intention to return football dominance to Old Trafford wasn’t surreal. He was going to do that but I guess Manchester United trust Carrick to do more - which He should to avoid problems.

Jürgen Klopp became so successful at Liverpool because he built a team physically capable of playing his football. Relentless pressing. Constant intensity. Wave after wave of attacks. They suffocated teams and never allowed opponents to breathe on the ball. That level of football requires more than tactics. It requires the right physical profiles. Midfielders that can run all game. Attackers that press aggressively. Players intelligent enough to sustain intensity without losing structure. That’s exactly what Ruben Amorim wanted to build at Manchester United. Which is why he prioritised physicality, aggression and football intelligence in his first signings. You could already see the direction. Unfortunately, he was sacked before he could complete the rebuild.

Yesterday had me thinking… maybe Amorim was right 😭 We might actually not be ready for Europe. I’m sorry, but we can’t go into the Champions League relying on Maza Maza, Dalot, Amad, Shaw, Zirkzee and Mount… we will get smoked 😭😭 WE NEED TO SIGN PLAYERS!!!

I’m not against bringing in a better coach than Carrick, but do people genuinely believe there’s a manager out there who can play beautiful football and compete on all fronts with this squad? 😭

@LiamPaulCanning Not true.. Get 10 new players for an average coach, the team will be a below average team. Get a good coach, an average team surprisingly becomes a good team

Recruitment is far more important than the idea of the perfect manager this summer. No manager - as shown before - can work with a depleted squad. Need far more in depth this summer. Has to be 6+ players.

@utdHarryy Carrick is definitely a NO NO. Getting results against top 5 teams and struggling against the other 14 teams is never the way to go.

I’m sorry and I’ll stick by my guns regardless how much hate I get. Even if we win this game although I feel it’s going to happen we should not be keeping Carrick full time, this football isn’t sustainable. The only somewhat hope I’ve got and leeway I’ll give Carrick is he hasn’t signed any player so I’m hoping when he does get appointed permanently the players he signs we will dominate games more.

Like Micheal Carrick, every coach has a starting point, some better than most. Here’s a look at Luis Enrique’s record people clearly overlook: •Joined AS Roma in 2011 •Finished 7th in Serie A (their lowest league finish in a decade) •Missed out on Champions League •Eliminated by Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League playoffs •Clashed with senior players especially Francesco Totti •Resigned just after a year as he couldn’t adapt and cited exhaustion, feeling very tired and drained •Left trophyless •Took a one year break afterwards. He returned into management with Celta Vigo in 2013 and finished 9th in the league and left trophyless too. Barcelona appointed him from 2014 - 2017 and he made a name for himself with numerous trophies. He was appointed Spains coach is 2018 - 2022 and went trophyless. •Runner up UEFA Nations League (2021) •Round of 16 at Euro 2020 and 2022 World Cup. The next Spain coach won the 2023 UEFA Nations League and the UEFA Euro 2024. He got appointed by PSG in 2023 and to help him achieve success, PSG brought in 12 players in one window alone and more in the next. The point here is despite Enrique’s achievements, he failed more than once until Barcelona gave him an opportunity just like every other elite coach with different teams, so why should it be different for Michael Carrick? Fans expect managers to become elite overnight but ignore the fact that development applies to coaches too.

When Kobbie Mainoo looked unhappy under Ruben Amorim, the fans and media turned Amorim into the villain overnight. Every headline was about “losing the dressing room” and “toxic management.” Now Michael Carrick is in charge and suddenly Mbeumo, Amad, Zirkzee, Mount and even Leny Yoro all look frustrated or unhappy… yet the same people are silent. So was the issue really player happiness, or were people just desperate to blame Amorim? The double standards at Manchester United are genuinely embarrassing.
