The way things are going, Victor Gyokeres might finish the season without even reaching 20 goals — and it won’t be down to his ability. The problem is simple: our creativity has dropped, and he’s not getting the service a striker of his profile needs. Even yesterday, in the few minutes he was on the pitch, he didn’t receive a single meaningful ball to attack. This is the same team that used to create chances for fun — we just lacked a clinical finisher. Now we finally have one, but the creation around him has gone quiet. If we want Gyokeres to deliver the numbers he’s capable of, we need to rediscover that connection in the final third. A clinical striker can only finish what he’s given.
