Tempe is one step closer to bringing more affordable housing to the city with this week’s demolition of the former Food City center in the Apache Corridor. Purchased by the city in 2021, the property will be transformed into an affordable living hub including: •400 apartments, with 90% of units designated as affordable. •A ground-floor urban-scale grocer. •Easy access to the Dorsey/Apache light rail station. •Steps away from the EnVision Center, the city’s one-stop resource hub for job help, nutrition and wellness classes, tech workshops and more.
