Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif (@CMShehbaz) called President Ilham Aliyev. During the telephone conversation the leaders reaffirmed the brotherly and strategic ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, welcoming the steady expansion of cooperation across key sectors including in energy, trade and people to people contacts. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of the upcoming World Urban Forum in Baku, noting Azerbaijan’s role as host in advancing the global urban agenda. President Aliyev expressed appreciation for the attention to the Forum and emphasized its significance as a leading international platform for urban agenda. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif noted that, due to pressing commitments would not able to attend the event, but he had ensured that Pakistan would be well-represented at the Forum. They exchanged views on regional developments, with particular focus on the Middle East. President Aliyev deeply appreciated Pakistan’s active mediation role and its successful initiatives to ensure a ceasefire between the parties, its efforts of de-escalation, noting it reflects strong international confidence in the country’s leadership. The leaders agreed to remain in close contact. The Prime Minister extended an invitation to visit Pakistan, which President Aliyev accepted with appreciation.

A significant advancement in relations between 🇦🇿 & 🇵🇰 has been achieved with #Airblue's inagural direct flights between Baku-Lahore. This increases the total number of direct weekly flights to ten, by #AZAL (6), #PIA Pakistan(2) and #Airblue (2) between brotherly 🇦🇿&🇵🇰.
