Guys who say: “We’ve met before”, with too much sass make me think they have a crush on me. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.

@MoshenetsPolina So interesting! Makes me wonder about social hacking/engineering vectors in humans at different ages. Susceptibility to certain types of lies, frauds, cognitive fallacies as our brains develop. Misleading a toddler is very different from misleading a teenager.

Neither cleanly, empirically it tracks capability emergence, not parameter count directly. Surface area jumps at phase transitions, not smoothly. A 70B model doesn’t have 17x the attack surface of a 4B, it has qualitatively different attack categories that don’t exist at smaller scales

One of the clearest lessons from my SLM adversarial evaluation: Fine-tuning shifted the attack surface. It did not reduce it. MedGemma-4B improved on exactly one safety dimension after medical fine-tuning. It also incurred 8 critical demographic bias findings in pain assessment and mental health. The exact domains the fine-tuning was supposed to improve... Parameter count isn't a safety proxy

But heading into midterms with $4 gas is a non-starter for any administration; especially this one. Even with Bessent guiding that an export ban is off the table, one has but to look at Trump’s incentives. This should keep more people up at night than it currently is.

The only reason Trump hasn’t done this yet is because the supermajor CEOs are vocally against it (as selling into a global shortage is much more profitable for them than selling into an artificially trapped domestic surplus).

Seemingly missing from the Hormuz discourse is that Trump can put export restrictions on U.S. crude at the stroke of a pen, thus sending WTI down 20-30% and Dated Brent to $200/bbl as the rest of the world scrambles to procure artificially scarce refinery inputs.

@KennethCassel Charlie Munger talks about this. Investing in better equipment is almost always higher ROI thank you think it’ll be.

@Romy_Holland Having dated 3 ex-Mormon women whose families are still Mormon, I've observed that their cheerfulness is a consequence of strict management of appearances. Mormons are raised in an unending interfamily competition to telegraph happier families, bigger houses, and higher stature.

basically everyone i’ve ever met who was raised mormon is outlier cheerful/optimistic. i’d think this was about their belief system, but it holds even among ppl who left the faith. it seems like the culture itself inculcates some positive baseline.

Smells like a Toronto based startup whose founders are also 30 Under 30, doing “quantum chemical” work without any background in chemical engineering or quantum physics, and mostly just going to conferences.
