The Mountain West and their 113 average NET ranking is the highest average NET of a conference NOT to get a single at-large bid since NET rankings have been used (2018-19 season). First time since 2017, the MWC gets only one team in the NCAAT.

VERY high IQ move inbounding that ball immediately after the 3PM. Force defense to backpedal as they aren’t setup but also prevents a TO from Santa Clara (Sendek called but wasn’t granted) which would presumably setup an even more difficult shot attempt or 2 FT’s, fouling up 3.

I think there are a couple modernizations that could/should be made (ribbon boards above concourse for ex.) but I think it’s cool that others from around the country love Viejas. Kevin Harlan, Steve Balmer, etc.

Man I just feel like roster retention is going to be very tough this season for SDSU. The amount of moving parts that I foresee will be very difficult to regain/manage.

SDSU was out-made behind the arc by 77 3PM this season, which ranked bottom 25 in D1 and were out-shot behind the arc in 8 of their 11 losses. Latrell Davis shot 39% from 3P on 3.9 3PA/G last season - just 168 players did that this season. He was on the bench all year

Coach Brian Dutcher just said that the Aztecs would have been an NCAA Tournament team had Lattrell Davis not redshirted this season based on how he practiced this season… Adding he had skills that his teams could have used this season.

Only question now is whether SDSU will accept an invitation to the NIT (where they'd likely be a 1 seed but wouldn't be able to host games at Viejas Arena because of the NCAA Tournament here). All indications are that will be no.

This Miami (OH) situation is an anomaly. This doesn’t set a precedent or any of that nonsense. They went 31-1. And NO, they didn’t knock SDSU out. In fact they were 6 spots ahead of SDSU, per Keith Gill. Whether you like it or not, that’s what it is.

I am an extremely objective person. Yes, it is such a bummer. But this team had so many opportunities to get in and didn’t succeed in any of them. A bad Q3 loss to Troy, 1-7 Q1 away from home, no signature win, best win Utah St at home. ONE of those could’ve changed our fate.
