We now have too many blockchains, and the truth is that most of them will fail.
Why? Because most “high performance” chains are hardly different from one another and fast blockspace has become commoditized.
In 2026, a chain needs one of three things to succeed:
1. A distribution advantage
2. A vertically integrated killer app
3. A 10x+ improvement on some critical dimension (e.g. privacy)
Otherwise, there’s very little reason for anyone to use it or build on top of it. Performance alone is no longer enough.

It wants to assess whether MiCA needs to be updated in light of market and international developments.

Privacy in crypto will win in two forms:
1. Private money — encrypted assets
2. Private computation — encrypted smart contracts
The second category is especially important for institutions because each one of them has its own idiosyncratic requirements—bespoke business logic, compliance rules, etc.
For them, providing privacy to their users isn’t as simple as just encrypting everything. They need to be able to encode who can see what and under which conditions.
That means privacy cannot just be binary. It must be programmable.

🚨New Draft of Digital Asset Market Clarity Act
Good news: BRCA is in
Bad news: there is still a bit of work to be done, in particular, there is a specific carve-out in the BRCA developer protections that needs thoughtful attention (see pic).
The DOJ could easily construe arguments that a developer’s choice to keep a UI or relayer active after a hack constitutes "specific intent" to facilitate the transfer of those bad funds.
IMO - this should be removed or amended.

The SEC took an important step on UIs - and now we’re asking them to lock it in. On April 13, 2026, the SEC published a staff statement with a thoughtful, practical approach for distinguishing non-custodial user interfaces from activities that constitute broker-dealer activity. DEF and 35 industry leaders are now requesting the SEC formalize the principles in the statement in notice-and-comment rulemaking, so we have durable regulatory clarity that lasts.
