My plan for government, should the King call me: 1. No nonces or their friends. 2. Enact a “nativist” law: the needs of citizens or those here legally take priority over the needs of tourists. 1/2

Thank you Peter for the extraordinary service you've given our party. With a new Leader & Chief Exec of @theSNP there's an opportunity to write the next chapter of our party & movement. If I am Leader of SNP I will build the team that's needed to deliver Scotland's independence.

Before being elected MSP for Edinburgh and Lothians East, Q Manivannan – who is a biological male and whose original first name is Srivatsan, but who now uses the pronouns they/them – told party members that they were ‘a queer Tamil immigrant’ from a ‘lower caste’ background. This qualified them to speak for the ‘working class and marginalised’ because they often went ‘hungry and because I was starved… worked and lied and begged.’ According to a Sunday Times investigation, this account doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. It transpires that Manivannan actually hails from an upper-middle class family in Chennai, one of India’s wealthiest cities. While the MSP claims to be the descendant of panoply of underworld exotics, of ‘courtesans, dancers, musicians, hunters and prostitutes’, the Green politician’s father reportedly has degrees in chemical engineering and business administration and their mother had a career in academia. The young Manivannan attended a private school, a private liberal arts and law university, and in 2019 went to work at a consultancy in Delhi which helps the super-rich gain places at international universities. This is all rather awkward for a Scottish Green party that wants to abolish private schools. ✍️ Patrick West Article | spectator.com/article/q-mani…

Jony Ive: Using touchscreens for basic car controls is a 'dumb design' that endangers lives. "People are dying because of dumb design." "Multi-touch shouldn't be in a car. It requires by definition that you're looking at a display." When the man who popularized the touchscreen admits putting an iPad in your dashboard is a deadly mistake, automakers must listen. I grew up in cars with analog switches, and I miss them. You could operate the radio or the climate control by pure muscle memory while keeping your eyes on the road. Now, the data backs up that everyday frustration. A University of Washington study proves touchscreens cause lane drifting. Starting in 2026, Euro NCAP will actually strip 5-star safety ratings from cars that refuse to use physical buttons for basic controls. We sacrificed safe, intuitive hardware for flat screens. It is time to bring the buttons back. Source: Cleo Abram

Thoughts on the Ferrari Luce: It's 'brave'. It's 'interesting'. There are some lovely details. But it's a Ferrari for people who don't like Ferraris. Most controversial Ferrari ever, but also the most influential ever: Other manufacturers are going to pick over this like magpies.

Australia is so fucked up. I spent nearly 2 years in Australia - Brisbane and Darwin. The worst thing about Australia, worse than the snakes, sharks, crocs (of both sorts), spiders, jellyfish, or pissed up Aboriginals is Australians like Anna Cody.
Anthony Khallouf@ausvstheagenda

Dr. Anna Cody, Australia's Sex Discrimination Commissioner just said: If a transgender woman (man) is denied a job because they said they intend to have children, then this is discrimination “on the basis on POTENTIAL pregnancy.” Oh my god.

@The_TUC Good: this should never have been state funded. And you've proved it doesn't have to be.

Trades Union Congress
Reform-led Durham council cut off funding to the annual Pride celebrations. So trade unions launched a fundraiser to save it, eventually raising more money than was cut. Which means this year's Pride will be bigger than ever. In the 1980s, the LGBT+ community raised thousands of pounds to help striking miners and their families. When we stick up for each other, we can achieve anything.

The death of three European passengers on an expensive Antarctic cruise was covered by wall-to-wall media. Meanwhile in Mongbwalu, the Congo health zone at the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak, at least six people were dying every day, invisible to global disease surveillance systems. foreignpolicy.com/2026/05/22/tru…

The first all electric Ferrari -- a car Ferrari said they'd never make, likely the most controversial car they've ever made, and a massive bet on new tech and a new market. Explained by its designers: Apple legend Jony Ive and Ferrari Chief Designer Flavio Manzoni. Now on HUGE* Conversations....

This is amazing. The New York Times put together a graphic of how much time cabinet members spend kissing up to Trump in meetings. "On average, at least one of every six sentences either flattered Mr. Trump, gave him credit or criticized his political opponents." North Korea.

34.8°C in the UK. In May. Warmest spring day ever. Beating the previous record by 2°C. Burning fossil fuels has made this heatwave hotter. True for the UK today, and everywhere else, all of the time.
